What the HELL is going on with Jessica's 'sexy leg' in Resident Evil Revelations?

As you may have gathered from Henry's glowing review, Resident Evil Revelations is a bit brilliant. High production values, gorgeous visuals and a latter half that consistently feels like the pulse-quickening last five minutes of most games. But there's one ridiculous ingredient in the mix that we can't let slip by unchecked. What the HELL is going on with Chris' new partner Jessica?

She's got a sexy leg. There's a sentence I never thought I'd say. Normally, a girl would have two sexy legs or perhaps two legs that aren't so sexy (for instance if they were infected with a zombie virus and therefore covered in open sores). But Jessica appears to have deliberately cut one leg out of her already skin-tight wetsuit, leaving her with a very sophisticated 'sub-aquatic trashy hooker' look. As if to say 'hey... look at my sexy leg'.

Above: There's no point holding your arm there to hide the ludicrous high cut. What are you doing, woman?

It's not like it's standard issue or regulation sexy leg, either. Fellow BSAA member Jill Valentine is rocking a similar tight outfit, but instead of taking scissors to it, she's merely undone her zip a little. Modestly sexy, our Jill.

Above: See how it's done? Jill's cutting a neat silhouette, but she's still combat-ready

Modesty is not a word we would use when describing Jessica. So when she tells us to follow her (quote) "sweet ass", to be honest, we're not sure we want to. And even when she's not flirting with Chris in a so-desperate-it-hurts fashion, it's impossible to take her seriously.

Above: Honestly, it's a massive distraction and we can't believe she isn't freezing

Ah well, at least the rest of Revelations is brill. Did I mention that? If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

I don't see the point but what the hell I might as well make the most out of it and enjoy it as much as possible, it's not like complaining will make her outfit make sense.

I'm 12 years old and what is this?
  • BlueScorpion91 - January 31, 2012 6:43 a.m.

I don't see the problem myself. If Jessica just wants to look her best while killing zombies, that's ok with me. ;)

    You've spelt Revelaitons wrong...
  • GR_JustinTowell - January 31, 2012 7:19 a.m.

Ha! Brilliant :) I was just about to scroll upwards and look for the typo...

It's called style AND sense, duh! If one leg is absolutely freezing and turning blue, then the other one will always seem warm!
  • rob619 - January 31, 2012 7:15 a.m.

Forget one sexy leg, I wanted the full set :)
  • RyoonZ - January 31, 2012 7:16 a.m.

How tall is she ? Almost looked like Bayonetta

Stupid modern games and their stupid stereotypes. How can you immerse yourself in a survival horror situation (assuming the game supports it) with characters like this? Its completely out of topic with the whole game. Its distracting and no fun. I guess 13 year old teens love to masturbate to things like that but RE is, supposedly, a series for grown ups (at least that's how it started) and as a grown up gamer i find things like that almost offensive for my intelligence. I know its just a game, but the whole industry follows the same examples lately. Sorry, i got carried away there.

"I guess 13 year old teens love to masturbate to things like that." Why are you pointing fingers at a younger audience? Granted, the stereotypical teenage boy is a hound dog with sex always on the mind, but that is STEREOTYPING. Now that's out of the way. Anyways, Imgema, I agree with what you're saying. Mostly. It is very distracting when they put something like this into a video game, especially when characters are always pointing it out. Dead Rising 2 and OfT are fun zombie games, especially with a friend, but there is so much pointless sex appeal in it. Also, Capcom makes almost every single female character seem like she's putting herself out there. Which is degrading to women.. A majority of their games are zombie, fighting, or apocalyptic. And I know that in a zombie situation, I would love to have a lot of protection. Hell, I'd live in a tank if I could, in that situation. A lot of games, especially JRPGs, have been following this for a while now. They should turn it down a notch.

I mean that younger boys who are more curious about sex would be more interested and more impressed with characters like that (i don't have to say not all of them, there are always exceptions) so excuse my controversial original explanation. Adults are already "fed up" and more experienced so companies don't need to make that kind of stuff to "lure" them.

    Nice attention to detail Justin.

Zombies stole the other leg of her swimsuit. Duh. OR... she wanted to do the two sexy legs look, but her other covered leg is actually hiding a mutated zombie leg, Evil Dead 2 style. Plot twist! Sequel potential!
  • MasterBhater - January 31, 2012 7:38 a.m.

This is Capcom we're talking about here, they're well known for creating over-sexualized characters for the sake of profit. That's why I don't buy games from them, because I just can't be immersed when the people I play as are such blatant stereotypes.
  • MrSuitMan - January 31, 2012 8:01 a.m.

Well, I wouldn't call this oversexualization so much as it is wierdlysexualization.
  • MrSuitMan - January 31, 2012 8:07 a.m.

Like Ivy from Soul Calibur is oversexualization. The girl from X-Blades is oversexualization. This is more just... odd.
  • Squander - January 31, 2012 8:07 a.m.

u serously don't buy games because of that? then u miss out quite some quality-stuff out there
  • MasterBhater - February 5, 2012 6:20 p.m.

How the hell am I supposed to take a game seriously as a survival horror game when all the characters look like pornstars? If the games name was "Super Booty Scare IV" I would understand, but it seems like Capcom doesn't know the meaning of "overboard"
