Hitman: Absolution VGA trailer sneaks up, strangles us with piano wire

Agent 47 is back in this new trailer for Hitman: Absolution, which just debuted during the pre-show festivities for the VGAs. It features 47 doing what he does best: killing lots of people without giving them a chance to shoot back with silenced pistols. Take a look:

Interesting that the developers are throwing the word "assassin" around, almost as if they're trying to cross swords (or piano wire) with Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed. Hitman was never about being an "assassin" or climbing around rooftops. It was about killing someone, stealing their clothing, and pretending that you're delivering fruit before shooting them in the face with a silenced pistol.

So, what do you think? Excited for the return of Agent 47?

Uh, of course Agent 47 has always been an assassin. An assassin and a hitman are two different words for the same meaning. If I made the series I might have a chip on my shoulder about Assassin's Creed getting all the glory these days, too. Hopefully it makes them feel like they have something to prove, because that will only give us a better game.

Hitman has always looked to Leon for inspiration. This will be amazing. Hitman is second to MGS for my all time favourite series. Hitmans trailers always manage to get me excited. Although you wont get Silent Assassin playing like that.

An assassin doesn't necessarily have to be so ninja-esque like the ones in Creed, but the line seemed like more of a shot at Ubisoft, which is kind of a weird move towards such an established and successful franchise. Certainly draws attention though, which can't be bad.

    This makes me moist.

OH GOD I'M EXCITED. To me, 47's ALWAYS been the real assassin. "Killing someone, stealing their clothing, and pretending that you're delivering fruit before shooting them in the face with a silenced pistol" is what REALL assassins do. None of that fancy rooftop aerial acrobatics crap that Ubisoft are trying to market. Welcome home, 47. And OH GOD HE'S GOT FEELINGS FOR HIS BOSS. Pretty sure if he'd watched any American sitcom in existence he'd have known that was a bad idea.
