By Zeus’s magnificent beard the new God of War III trailer looks amazing. Not only does it give us a chance to sully our loin cloths in excitement, but it also packs in a load of new enemies, never before seen weapons and kick-ass set pieces. Aside from that huge horse/spider... thing we've already talked about, we also catch a glimpse at the ruler of the underworld and some incredible new locations.

Kratos is set to garrotte gods with new weapons

I hope we can use some of the god's weapons like Hades' nunchuck thingies or as you guys were debating below Poseidon's Trident.

@Destroyer883 Actually, that enemy isn't Hephaestus. It's a new enemy type and it's called Talos and after Kratos has weakened it, he can take it's hammer and use it to kill it. Should be pretty fun fighting them along with the other new enemy types. Was getting bored of fighting the usual undead soldiers, gorgons, cerberus, minotaurs and cyclops.

@ darth kratos ohh. sorry bout that. ok this japanese gaming magazine talks about it and so does the recent UK version of playstation magazine. ps; im US resident its just that anything GOW i have to read.

@ psycowolf Be that as it may, the video obviously does not show Kratos wielding Posiedon's Trident, but rather the Blade of Olympus. To my knowledge, it has not been confirmed by any developers that Kratos will be able to use Poseidon's Trident as a weapon. If you have proof of a developer saying this, not speculation or rumors, please tell me where I can find it.

@ darthkratos i do check my sources. i wouldnt be saying this stuff if i hadnt had good enough sources. they include gow3forums.com godofwar.com the numorus blogs by the series creators and as ofcourse the god of wikia wich is somewhat of a reliable source.

If you watch the part of the trailer that shows Kratos using the hammer, it is pretty obvious that it is from a QTE. I just have to know, was it officially confirmed that the Blade of Olympus is replacing rage of the titans rather than being a seperate weapon? Can someone tell me where they heard that?

This is the conclusion to the most epic trilogy the videogames world has ever seen. No other story comes close and nothing is going to be bigger or better then God Of War 3 in 2010.

the "mystery blade" is the blade of Olympus from the second game. Which is activated when a "rage meter" fills for Kratos. Also the barbarian hammer doesn't return, its a new hammer from one of the mini bosses you fight. I don't know if you get it as a weapon, but you use it to kill the stone thing, as a finishing move.

That Hammer is not the Barbarian King's Hammer, that's Hephaestus's hammer in a QTE, There have been Screen shots of them fighting, and that enemy looks like him.

I think Lujo is correct. That is most certainly the Blade of Olympus and since the hammer (which is definately not the barbarian's hammer) is being used against one of the guysthatr uses it, it might be a finishing move (though its possible that you permanently take it, like with the hammer and spear of destiny) @psycowolf While the idea of using Poseidon's trident is great, the trailer obviously shows a sword, not the trident. I would also check your sources, as using the trident has not been officially revealed. Also, there would not be another colossus because, historically, there was only one. You are right inthinking that it looks like the Colossus in God of War 2, but I think that the writer is correct to suggest that it is Helios, as the Colossus of Rhodes was a statue of Helios.

@ radicallyrad Gotta agree with you there, it looks like teh Blade of Olympus - it's certainly big enough. Just like they redesigned Gaia they've probably given it a small touch up.

When i saw the trailer on GT tv i swear i almost jizzed myself! Rally excited about this game but i only have enough money for one game and i still can't decide if i want Bioshock 2 or God of War 3?

ok guys look, the "sword" is most deffinitly posidons trident because i read that you get it to finally use it as a weapon or you use it for finisher for posidon. next, the barbarian hammer not in this game, if it is it isnt that thing. that stone hammer is the waepon that these ston/wood/metal creaturs that were givin life by the gods to hunt kratos, their names start with a "T". the blade of olympus is in the game but im pretty sure it replaces the rage of the titans from GOW2. also that thing is not helios, like in GOW2 there will be another colossus like the colossus of rhodes in the first levelof GOW2.oh and herculese is in the game . i mean comeon who do you think you get the cestus from.( BTW the person kratos is pumilling in the new trailer is most likely herculeseafter kratos gets the cestus)if you want to know more the gow3forums.com has more infofrom the people who mad the game and devoted fans like my self

Um, that sword is the Blade of Olympus. Or whatever it's called. You had it in GoW2. And that's not the Barbarian's Hammer, that one was made of wood. This is made of stone or metal, it seems. I'm pretty sure it's not a new weapon, I think that golem-thing will use it, and Kratos simplay takes it from him in the finishing move...

Its funny that they won't reveal any of the plot, but the summary is "This is the reason there are no more Greek myths." Well hell, that just means Kratos will kill 'em all! Aw well, looks awesome anyways!
