I lost 3 years of xbox 360 saves when failing to transfer it across to a new harddrive using a dodgy usb flash drive. then cloud saving became invented the following month...

Beating an end game boss just for the game to encounter a glitch that needs you to restart... and you had not saved after beating that boss

Letting your friends borrow your games, which they either lose or forget about. I've had this happen a bunch of times, but the worst one was in college. I kept all of my GameCube discs in a rubber Metroid Prime disc holder case that was a pre-order bonus, which went everywhere my console went. I ran a gaming club and I would routinely volunteer my GameCube for the meetings. After breaking down the room after a winter meeting, my Metroid Prime case was nowhere to be found. I was extremely pissed about this, because I had some rare games like Eternal Darkness and Ikaruga in there. It remained lost for about a year before we found it in the closet where we kept all the tables and chairs.

I'd definitely add game-stopping bugs (I will one day have to complete Fez on a newer Xbox), losing out on a shiny pokemon, and your controller losing power during an online match causing you to get killed. I'll also never forget my Halo 3 autosave experience that left me with minimal health and a bullet on a brain-bound trajectory about a metre away from my head. Cue an endless cycle of death and a trip to Computer Exchange.

Bugs that stop you progressing (Skyrim, Fallout, Tomb Raider Underworld etc), and an auto save point just before a line of dialogue so when you keep failing every time you have to listen to it again, again and again... (PoP, Uncharted, Metal Gear etc)

I remember getting halfway through the World of Ruin in Final Fantasy VI before having a brain fart moment and pulling the cartridge out without turning the system off. Save file gone. Spent the next two days marathoning the shit out of that game to get back to where I was, but it just wasn't the same.

pretty sure "hot girl" usurped quarter protocol back in the day. there are rules, but they were made to be flexible.

I had a dream once where my friend pulled out the Memory Card in my GameCube while it was on, and all of my save data was gone for all of my games. Truly an awful feeling that I would like to keep from becoming reality.

Finally finding a legendary Pokémon after hours of searching, only to have the said Pokémon flee after one try at hypnosis.

Just seeing that stupid RC plane from San Andreas sent a sudden surge of dormant rage flying up through me. Those missions were ass and deserved to rot in hell. ...Also, I stopped playing Oblivion because of unwinnable saves. I hadn't actually started the main storyline and had been dicking around (I was level 24 or something, though) and it turns out that I hadn't made my character good enough. So it turns out I'll never play a game with autolevelling enemies again, because to beat one enemy it took minutes of chipping away at health and a king's feast worth of food.

i remember my roommate getting stuck on the rc plane mission for like a month. he then watched me do it on the second try. this could be part of the reason we aren't friends anymore. wonder if he ever got through it...

Awesome list, we had to have some moment in our life You see a shiny Pokemon, HOLY SHIT, throw a ball the first time and it fails or use the turn to weaken it, BUT THEN, Shiny Pokemon uses Explosion/Roar/Whirlwind All of my rage, a shiny Aron did Roar to me and im still butthurt because i always wanted a shiny aggron.

Forgetting to pre save Having to back track Becoming lost/not knowing what to do

I've had a few "unwinnable" saves in quite a few RPGs. Usually I just persist until an abundance of criticals and misses grants me victory. The only time I went back and grinded for hours was Eternal Sonata, and then the boss was a joke hours of grinding later.

Some platinum trophy requirements are just silly hard, completely out of my league and allotted gaming time-frame. I'd rather be experiencing a new game than trying to complete an old game on "Death-hard" without blinking and with the TV screen off. Saying that I do think it's great that in this 'billion $ industry day and age' they still cater to the hardcore and obsessive elements that have always been a part of this past-time. If you can hack it and have the time good luck to ya'.
  • KA87 - February 8, 2013 4:20 p.m.

If you are looking for an easy platinum trophy, then try Pro-type 2. I got all but the complete the game on hard trophy on the first play through and I was not ever hunting for trophies. Also the one for Saint Row 3 was really easy to get as well.
  • taokaka - February 8, 2013 8:32 p.m.

Or the walking dead, you just need to complete the game to platinum it.
  • avantguardian - February 8, 2013 11:44 p.m.

unrelated, but i just wanted to say, seagal is my favorite. not because he's any good, or any of his movies are any good. it's simply because he doesn't even bother with getting hurt. got shot? won't speak of it again. (anti) climactic fight with rival? instant take down. truly was "chuck norris" before chuck norris became "chuck norris".

I might try them, thanks guys.
