GamesCom Asura's Wrath trailer is angry... in space!

Along with a new set of screenshots, Asura’s Wrath has a fresh trailer for GamesCom 2011. It starts out slow, as Asura and his former master take some time off from their deity duties to enjoy a dip in a hot springs. But don’t be fooled — the bright red man bodies are just bait to lure you in before exploding violence in your face.

Bookending the trailer with words you might see on a sitcom: “previously on…” and “to be continued,” makes us wonder if the game will use similar narrative devices. We understand Asura’s Wrath is primarily about action, but even if the story takes a backseat, it might have a lot to say.

There’ s a bit where the enormous pair of sanguine warriors even seem a bit misty eyed, as they reminisce over past battles with enormous animals. But before we get too caught up, one or the other glances at the moon, and suddenly they’re fighting in space (we don’t know why), and Asura is stabbed across approximately 238,857 miles, the distance from the Moon to the Earth. Which, of course, only makes him angrier.

Asura’s Wrath is due out late March of next year for Xbox 360 and PS3.

@ NOcturnalRight Thanks for pointing that out - I couldn't work out where I knew the voice from. It's the same dude that does War in Darksiders.

  • BladedFalcon - August 17, 2011 4:01 a.m.

It's so deliciously preposterous and absurd. How can you not want to play a game like that?
  • meh - August 17, 2011 1:46 a.m.

This game looks sweet. Sometimes you don't need a game that gets caught up with the story and narrative. Sometimes, you just wanna play a balls-out, crazy, insane game of punching and QTE.

This game looks insane. Also, is that Liam O'Brien's voice I heard coming from Asura

hey does this game have anything to do with that one action game that was on the iphone a while back when the guy was fighting a god in space it was all QTE and the god was trying to squish you with one of his fingers... ya know from space... i really wish i can remember the name of that damned game. cause if they are connceted then that would seem like a pretty good way to see how people would respond to the content or tone of a game i think yeah.
  • Zeos - August 17, 2011 1:01 a.m.

Damn, this game looks like it'll be pretty sweet.
  • BlackElement17 - August 17, 2011 12:54 a.m.
