First Fallout: New Vegas DLC exclusive for Xbox LIVE

Bethesda Softworks has recently announced that the first piece of downloadable content for Fallout: New Vegas will be available exclusively for Xbox LIVE users this holiday season. “We’re excited to continue the partnership between Bethesda and Microsoft, and build on the success of the game add-ons released for Fallout 3 on Xbox LIVE,” said Pete Hines of Bethesda Softworks. “Fans will once again be able to continue their experience in the Fallout universe with the add-on packs planned for after the launch of the game.”

No information was released about what the upcoming add-on will be about or what it will be titled. But despite the lack of details, General Manager of IEB Product Marketing for Microsoft, Matt Barlow seems VERY excited and certain that you will be thrilled about the upcoming DLC, too. “Bethesda set a high bar with the quality of the Fallout game add-ons,” says Barlow. “We have no doubt that gamers will be thrilled with seeing a new add-on pack extend their adventures with Fallout: New Vegas on Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE.”

Fallout: New Vegas is scheduled to release on October 19 for North American audiences for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. It will release on October 21 in Australia and October 22 in Europe.

  • Pocotron - October 19, 2010 1:19 a.m.

Bull. Fuckin. Shit. At least make it like Scott Pilgrim or MW2 DLC where it was only a few weeks apart, not fucking shit like Fallout 3 had. I WAITED LIKE SIX MONTHS!!!!!
  • The_King_of_Nothing - October 19, 2010 12:06 a.m.

Of course they're all over 360 balls. Why wouldn't they be? I freakin hate "exclusives." Just make it for both.

Is it just me or do the graphics in that screenshot look like utter shit? Anyway in regards to the article : I was pondering whether or not to get this for my game pc, but now I know.
  • Fewtorious - October 18, 2010 9:35 p.m.

Looks like I will be waiting for GOTY for PS3 that will come out next year...
  • MyNameIsMyName - October 18, 2010 9:14 p.m.

Something about DLC from a game like Fallout makes me sad, after GOY Edition game out I sunk 70+ hours in and still didn't start The Pit, Broken Steel or finish Anchorage also I haven't beaten the main quest or all side missions. But I still wanted the DLC what a waste of my life, only Fallout brings that out.
  • WickedSid - October 18, 2010 8:51 p.m.

@Apollomasque, All I got from that was "DAMMIT, PC, LIKE, LIKE, BALLS, XBOX, PC." So, everyone that's the gist of the comment. Thank you, that is all.
  • Apollomasque - October 18, 2010 8:30 p.m.

GodDAMMIT! I got the PC version because I LIKE aiming with a mouse, I LIKE mods, they're fun, they make me calm, they make my BALLS feel good. I do pray that they make whatever mod is coming out for XBOX come out for PC later. I already got shafted out of the pre-order bonus.
  • Zeb364 - October 18, 2010 7:53 p.m.

F Yea! I'm so freakin ready for this game and DLC just means more of it. Can't wait to pick it up tomorrow.
  • FauxFurry - October 18, 2010 7:39 p.m.

They could have avoided the inevitable complaints and ultimatums issued to them to change their ways or suffer the loss of revenue (a fate worse than death for any self-respecting corporation) by just doing something unusual with unique DLC that takes advantage of the Xbox 360 or PS3 hardware or exclusive software library (by acknowledging said games' save game files ala Metal Gear Solid/The Twin Snakes). Maybe Obsidian could represent the pointless system wars in the game itself by adding tribes led by Larry Hryb and Kevin Butler into the game who the player could help break equilibrium or ensure their mutual destruction? Who wouldn't pay for that DLC?
  • db1331 - October 18, 2010 7:14 p.m.

I really couldn't care less. I've already been tricked twice into buying the sequel to an amazing game (Kotor and NWN) only to discover that Obsidian somehow managed to take a masterpiece and make it crap. I expect them to do the same to Fallout. George W. Bush put it best when he said, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on...shame on you. You fool me twice, you're not gonna fool me again."
  • KatyaSchlacter - October 18, 2010 6:53 p.m.

Those who bought the CE should get the DLC for free, dangit.
  • VercettisShirt - October 18, 2010 6:40 p.m.

The DLC for Fallout 3 was mostly set in entirely new locales. I hope Obsidian are planning a similar thing with New Vegas.
  • Kieran712 - October 18, 2010 6:34 p.m.

@NeelEvil Oh they will, unless they will. They'll have to so people can still play their DLC if they have finished it
  • NeelEvil - October 18, 2010 6:18 p.m.

@Kieran712 New Vegas does have a definitive ending, no word yet if Betheseda are going to butcher it for the sake of DLC.
