Enslaved interview - a monkey, robots, and some freaky-real mannequins [VIDEO]

One of the first things a particularly brilliant, if slightly doofus-y games journalist says in the above video is this (but with crappier grammar): "The only thing that can keep Enslaved: Journey to the West from being a sleeper hit is if it becomes a bona fide, full-blown hit." I'm right, too. Playing like some strange conglomeration of Ico, God of War, and Sly Cooper and looking as artistically and technically beautiful as anything out there, the upcoming action adventure oozes style and originalilty. Interesting plot, top-notch voice acting - even the game's eerily realistic promotional mannequins are a cut above (they have real wigs and wear real clothes).

But don't just take my word for it. Give this video a quick look. If it doesn't convince you that Enslaved is something special, you might need to get yourself an optical upgrade...

I'm really looking forward to this due to both liking Heavenly Sword and Journey to the West.

The environments remind me a lot of Cliff Blezinki's upcoming game 'Bulletstorm.' As much as I'd like to be excited for a new game that looks like it's semi-ambitious and stepping out of the usual brown color scheme, this game really just doesn't look that great. Its gameplay mechanics look very 'been there done that' (as in: hit the robot a lot and then disable it temporarily while you perform a QTE before repeating). Also, it really doesn't look like it's going to break new ground in gaming by any means. I mean, "Big strong male protects tiny, fragile female who is not as strong but has other skills"... just, come on. On the plus side, though: Eric, you have charisma in front of the camera!

Do want. I've been interested in this title since it was announced, and so far it doesn't look to disappoint. Maybe my first day-one purchase in a long time...

I'm very excited about this now, after seeing some footage and this interview. High hopes.

Mover over breast physics! Say hello to tail physics! The game certainly looks pretty. To me the characters look a little generic, so a lot of the game's personality will ride on the voice acting. But I would like to offer my assessment as a variation on Eric's statement: the one thing that can keep Enslaved from being a hit is escort missions.
