Driver: San Francisco single player demo launches tomorrow

Gearing up for the September release of Ubisoft's Driver: San Francisco, the single-player demo will launch tomorrow on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The demo allows players to survey the game's San Francisco locale for themselves in three missions: the stunt-heavy Prove It, VIP-escorting Escapist, and Team Colors, in which players must control multiple cars, shifting between them to take the first and second places in a street race. Here's the trailer to tide you over in the hours before the demo's release.

Driver: San Francisco – due to launch on Sept 2 in Europe and four days later in the US – places an emphasis on action-packed chase-style driving, with aggressive rivals and police pursuits leaving scant opportunity to survey the faithfulness of the game's real-world locale. We took a look at the game's multiplayer component recently, and this demo offers players the chance to sample a few of the game's single-player modes before launch. Looking forward to some playtime?

"You're driving on the pavement", "Sorry", "I'm not complaining". Lol. I had more fun with Driv3r to be honest. Which is a shame...really wanted this to be blow me away. Tanner is supposed to be an amazing driver and I get a kick out of that, all this switching does my head in. I'd have far more enjoyed a full remake of the first Driver which still great.

It would've made a lot more sense if the main character wasn't a cop. If he was a criminal, however, I would have every single police car plow into each other. He even says in the demo... "I didn't know we had so many on patrol!" ...Then destroy them, you moron.

I quite enjoyed it. It'll be a fun rental and then promptly forgotten about. Not every game has to be amazing (so long as you aren't buying them, obviously)

I'm going to torrent it, say, "fuck you, Ubisoft!", and promptly delete it.

it looked kinda sucky since reveal at E3, not a surprise it's so-so at best, then. and yea, this car shifting. even if it can be made interesting from gameplay point of view, i can't help but think that this whole idea is simply stupid. Srsly, THAT'S what designers of a game with a name like " Driver" thought of? " Allright, so we want to expand " DRIVER", what can we add to the formula?" " Soul-shifting?" " BRILLIANT, U GOT PROMOTION BIATCH!"

Yeah, tried this out earlier this evening. It's not a horrible demo, but it's just boring. The city and cars look generic (which is bad considering they are licensed cars), the racing is bland, and the acting is hokey. Not to mention the "shift" effect is a tacky gimmick that doesn't fit in with the whole story, if you can call it that. Not looking good.

Actually, it launched this morning. And frankly- it sucked. Bad. The driving wasn't bad- wasn't great either. The city looked nice, not great. Then there's the real issue. OMFG is the voice work and dialogue HORRIBLE. At first I was thinking it's being cheeky. Then I thought it was being campy. Then I realized it's just outright HORRIBLE voice work and dialogue for what has to be the WORST story in the history of gaming. It was SO bad- each and every 'scene' was just worse than the one before it!! It's SO bad- it's SO, SO, SO bad. I deleted the demo right after I finished it and decided I would NEVER play that crap again. So.... happy demo'ing.
