Dead or Alive 3DS shows bouncy new screens, adds 'Dimensions' subtitle

It's very exciting to still be at the stage where it's unclear exactly how good the graphics will be on a new machine. If Dead Or Alive: Dimensions is anything to go by, 'freakin' amazing' is a good starting point. And that's before you take into account the magnificent 3D effect that will make Kasumi's assets even more 'outstanding' than usual. Check out the new screens, as seen on Famitsu:

Above: Kasumi smacks Ayane on the chin while sakura falls all around. Must look great in 3D

Above: Kasumi's hair flows like silk as she smashes her brother Hayate in the ear. Best-rendered leg ever?

Above: Ayane gets her own back - but look at the depth of field effect on that background. Yum

Above: The character models are easily Xbox 1 standard, and the background echoes the Dreamcast original

Above: Special effects are the order of the day. Shame we can't see the screen furniture too

Above: Now that's impressive. Imagine this happening in the palm of your hand. Bring on March!

Above: It wouldn't be a Dead or Alive game without a teasing glimpse of female undergarment. Pantsu!

Above: Why not combine the lot? Great character models, flashy lightning and pants. This game cannot fail

The game has cunningly taken on a 'Dimensions' sub-title to replace '3D'. We're preparing ourselves for a flood of clever puns and acronyms, like we had with DS versions of popular games. Resident Evil: Deadly Silence, anyone? Still, it's great to have a new DOA fighting game on the way. Beach Volleyball is all well and good, but even the girls would rather be fighting.

So how good do you reckon it looks? These screens are a bit fuzzy, but I reckon it looks at least as good as the PS2 version of DOA2:

Above: In fact, this PS2 shot looks a bit sterile in comparison...

Roll on 3DS, whenever your release date may be...

"Now that's impressive. Imagine this happening in the palm of your hand." You're right, it's called the PSP. It's done games of this graphical quality multiple times already in the last several years.

According to the average gaming press, the PSP doesn't exist.

you were obviously living under a rock during e3 then the 3ds is way more powerful then the psp

I'll admit to that. The launch games look as good or better than some of PSP's best after 5 years. But still, not enough to act like "Oh my god, these graphics...in the palm of your hand??!!! What wizardry!"

Believeable, but still amazing. Can't wait to see how MGS and Resi look.

Arucard04 - 49 minutes 42 seconds ago I'll admit to that. The launch games look as good or better than some of PSP's best after 5 years. But still, not enough to act like "Oh my god, these graphics...in the palm of your hand??!!! What wizardry!" @Arucard04: You gave yourself an answer rigth there, it´s been more than five years with the PSP, it´s obvious that the new 3ds it´s a more powerful piece of hardware , but i must say i was expecting a lot more.....btw it´s look better that Tekken 6 or Soul Calibur, but not that good... still a must buy for me

Do they mean to say their characters won't be two-dimensional?

@everybody who's saying the PSP does this: I own a PSP. I love it. It doesn't do this. This is phenomenal. I'm really looking forward to SSFIVDS now.

Finally DoA is moving back to fighting. God, the 3DS is looks better and better every time I see it. Launch can't come quickly enough.

@Fiirestorm LOL PSP. The PSP is a failure, it only has few good games, and unless you haven't noticed, it doesn't do 3D. Also, last game I played on the PSP looked like crap (can't remember what game, it was about 3 years ago). Anyway, YUSS! 3DS is going to be the most amazing handheld EVEEEER!
  • kit07 - September 9, 2010 7:44 p.m.

  • n00b - September 9, 2010 7:53 p.m.

Sigh... Look at MGS: Rising. Now look at the Naked Sample. Look at RE4 on the PS2. Now look at the 3DS screenshots. There you go. It's more powerful than the PSP.
  • marioman50 - September 9, 2010 11:01 p.m.

Neither Tekken nor Metal Gear on the PSP look THIS good. Then again, the PSP's been out for a while. The next-gen PSP, however, will probably looks as good, if not better than this. Still, for a portable (and seeing as it'll be in 3D) the 3DS will be amazing in the graphics department.
  • NearNRiver - September 9, 2010 11:54 p.m.

Nothing on the PSP looks quite this good, so I guess this is better... OH WAIT THEY ARE DOING THE WHOLE THING IN 3D WHICH IS AMAZING AND WILL LOOK F*ING BEAUTIFUL AND TAKES A TON MORE POWER!
  • Metroidhunter32 - September 10, 2010 1:58 a.m.

It looks better then the PS2.
