Farm by day and fight by night in this farming and tower defense-style roguelite when Steam Next Fest drops this month
There's plenty of bounty to reap in The Rabbit's Haul
If you're looking for a good blend of farming and fighting, then The Rabbit Haul is one to give a go when Steam Next Fest rolls around once more this month.
As we can see in a new trailer shown at FGS Live From Los Angeles, the game is split into two halves. By day, you can take it easy by tending to your farm. When night comes, though, action calls as you'll have to defend your crops from a thieving gang known as the Trash Panda Posse.

The way these two halves link is through roguelite, tower defense-style gameplay that tasks you with making sure your defenses are robust enough during the day to survive what happens during the night. The end goal is to rebuild your hometown while stopping the forces at be from knocking it down. Interestingly, as the trailer reveals, the game's demo is getting a new skill tree for us to try.
The Rabbit Haul puts you in the role of Sprout – a, well, rabbit. During the day, you'll want to toy with plant synergies to see what proves most effective for your setup. Once a night ends, you'll be able to take the crops that have been saved and use them to further invest if your farm to make it even stronger for the night that's to come.
Where the roguelite gameplay comes in is that failing the objective doesn't mean everything is lost. You can go into your next run better prepared than the last. Part of that is down to the raccoons themselves. Each comes with a distinctive idea of how they want to snag your crops. Through the power of built knowledge and new unlockables, you'll go into a new run prepared for what's to come.
