Talk to Rival, he will tell you that we are going to Lake Verity to capture
the Legendary Pokemon that lives there. If you have played D/P you know this
Legendary to be Mespirit. If not, well, you do now.

So, with Rival following your every step, go left and then up. Head through
the gap in the trees. The screen will move up and give you a view of a strange
blue haired character. Once again, D/P players will already be familiar with
him. This character's name is Cyrus. You will notice he is dressed wierdly.

He finishes his rant to himself and hurries out of the area. Then Mespirit
cries out. Rival is eager to catch Mespirit but soon realises that we need
Poke Balls to do so. Rival soon comes to the conclusion that Professor Rowan
will give us some. He heads off to talk to him.

Now, head back out through the gap in the trees and make your way right, to
Sandgem Town. On the way, there is a lady in the last patch of grass wearing
an apron. Talk to her to get a Potion.

As you go to enter the town, Dawn will show you their Pokemon Research Lab.
Before she can take you inside however, Rival runs out, bumping into you and
then runs off again. Dawn then takes you inside where the professor will be
waiting.

He will assess you and your pokemon and he comes to the conclusion that it
seems rather happy with you and he will let you keep it. If you want to
nickname your starter then go right ahead. I personally don't nickname any of
my pokemon. After more dialogue and an idle threat on Dawn's part, Professor
Rowan entrusts you with your very own POKEDEX. This is used to store data of
all of the pokemon that you either encounter or capture.

You and Dawn exit the Lab and Rowan runs out and gives you your first TM,
TM27 Return.

Dawn then gives you a tour of the town. The RED roofed building is the POKEMON
CENTRE and the BLUE roofed building is the POKEMART. There is one of each in
every town.

Now you have to go back to Twinleaf Town and explain to your mother about your
new journey. But before you do, head south of Sandgem Town and get the
Antidote.

When you get home, talk to your mum and she will heal you. After explaining
about your journey, she gives you a Journal. Rival's mum comes in and asks if
you know where Rival is. She then gives you a parcel to give to Rival when you
see him next. After this, make your way back to Sandgem Town and then head
north and on to Route 202.

On this route, catch a Bidoof, Starly and a Shinx. Bidoof is not a very

him and his evolution can learn all but two HMs in the game. This is also

As soon as you get to the top of the stairs that lead to Jubilife, Dawn runs
up to you and comments on the ammount of pokemon that you have caught.(I had
4 including my starter). Then she shows you the trainer school. There is a
wierd guy, running between street lamps and then hiding behind them. I thought
it was interesting because he was taller than every character in the game.

He lets slip that he is from the International Police. He then tells you his
codename: LOOKER. This is one of the two new characters added to the plot
since Diamond and Pearl. He then explains that there are criminals who are
stealing from others. Finally, he gives you the VS Recorder. As he leaves, he
tells you to inform him of bad guys.

Go into the Pokemon Center and heal your pokemon. Then head into the Trainer
School, which is opposite the Pokemon Center. When you enter, head to the
blackboard and talk to Rival. You give him the Parcel which contains two Town
Maps. He only needs one so he gives the other to you. Then he leaves. Head to
the left and pick up the X Attack. Then head to the top-right corner of the
room and battle the two trainers one at a time.

Exit the Trainer School and head north. A man will cut you off and tell you
about a promotion that is currently going on in Jubilife. Just find 3 clowns
and get a coupon from each clown by answering their questions.

Here are the locations of the clowns and answers to their questions.

Once you have all 3 coupons, head back to the man and trade them in for the
Poketch. Now, the Touch Screen is filled with what looks like a watch. Touch
the buttons on the right side with your stylus to cycle through the apps that
are contained in it. Throughout your adventure, you earn and get given new
apps for your Poketch. There are 25 altogether.

There is a person near the fountain that is in the center of the city. Talk to
her to create groups. Trade records in this group to have lots of cool stuff
happen. Things like other trainer's stuff appearing on the TV.

Also, in one of the apartment buildings, there is a lady that will give you an
item called the Quick Claw. It is an item that increases the chance of you going
first in battle.

Go to the Poketch building and head left, into the building at the end of the
path. Talk to the guy who looks like a fisherman. Answer yes to his question
and he will give you the Old Rod. This rod is the worst of them, because you
can only catch low level Magikarp with it. Head left, though the door and pick
up the X Accuracy, then fish for a Magikarp. Catch it and eventually, after it
reaches LV.20, it will evolve into a Gyarados, a powerful WATER/DRAGON type
Pokemon. And a quick tip for all of you novices .SPLASH DOES NOTHING.

When you have caught your Magikarp, head back through the town and heal. Then
go to the Pokemart and stock up on Poke Balls and Potions. Head out into the
street and go right, then down the stairs and onto Route 203.

Abra is a very, very good pokemon to have in the game. Although you need to
level it to Lv.16 for it to be of any use, once you do, you can evolve it
into its final form, Alakazam, by trading. Alakazam is perhaps the greatest
and strongest non-legendary Psychic types in the game. Also, if you haven't
already, catch a Starly, Bidoof and Shinx.

--------------------------------------------------------
This Rival battle is easier than the last one. Mainly
this due to the fact that Rival and you both have your
elemental moves now. He has also caught a Starly which
would be a good pokemon for you to have at this point
as well. If you train Starly to Lv.9, he learns Wing
Attack which, if you picked Chimchar or Piplup as your
starter, can kill both of his pokemon quite easily. But
if you picked Turtwig as your starter, you are just
going to have to keep using Starly's Wing Attack to
lower Chimchar's HP bit by bit. For his Starly, just do
the same.

Recommended Level: 8 or 9+
 '--------------------------------------------------------'

Once you beat Rival, go back to the Pokemon Center and heal if you need to.
If not, head up from where you battled Rival and battle the first trainer.

Head right from here, pick up the Poke Ball and then jump down the ledge.
Continue east and battle the rest of the trainers on this route. Get the two
items at the end, near the cave. One is a X Defend and the other is a Repel.

Make your way down the stairs and a kid will show you where the gym is. Rival
is standing there, blocking the door. Go back to the stairs and go into the
first house along the top row. Go to the second floor and talk to the girl for
a Dusk Ball.

In the apartment block behind the gym, there is a trainer with which you can
trade a Machop for an Abra. This is a good trade, but the Abra has got a nick-
name. To catch a Machop, head north and onto Route 207.

There is a person in the Pokemon Center that will change how you appear to
trainers on Wi-Fi and other online activities. Go down the escalator in the
Pokemon Center to get the Pal Pad from one of the women that work down there.
This is used with the Wi-Fi and it allows you to add people to it. Like a
Contact List on MSN.

Now, go to the Pokemon Center and heal. Then exit and head south. Just before
the entrance to the mines, head right and up. Pick up the Yellow Shard and
Dire Hit. Now head into the Mines.

If you picked Chimchar as your Starter, do not go any further until you have
evolved it into a Monferno. Chimchar evolves at Lv.14 and learns Mach Punch.
This is the only way to defeat this gym if you have Chimchar.

Moving on. In this gym there are two ways to go. The long way, which has no
trainers. Or the short way which has two trainers. I recommend that you go
the short way because its good for EXP. So, work your way to the gym leader
