Catherine developers respond to cover art reaction, show off art book and soundtrack combo

Despite the lack of a confirmed Western release, we just can't get enough of Atlus' uniquely odd upcoming game, Catherine.

A new entry on the developer blog details a bonus that early buyers of the game in Japan will receive. It's a CD with 11 tracks, along with a booklet and liner notes featuring art from the game. The image below is from the jacket, and it's a slightly classier look for Catherine than we've seen in the past.

The blog post also contained the response to the game's cover art, which we discussed last week. Apparently, several fans in Japan thought it was a little bit too erotic.

"To those who thought the image was hot, thank you. Others said, 'If I had the package in my house, what would people say when they saw it?' Please, by all means, have a family meeting beforehand to teach them about Catherine. You could say 'Catherine is an action-adventure with an adult atmosphere, not a porn game.'"

...yeah, don't think your girlfriend's going to buy that one.

Meh, I'll just tell them they have a singled minded view to everything. Or show them the trailer and they'll go "WTF?" and never speak of it agian.

The art is nice.. hopefully I'll be that good someday. And the identical to porn part, never bothered me much, I mean it's anime or CG right, everyone will understand. Or maybe they should make "Panic Button" like that weird shooting game when someone notice you playing.

@Otis: Notice how almost no games get a PC release? Also, Atlus has been around for a good long while. I don't believe they've released a single PC game. Your chances aren't too good. Just buy a damn console.

And you just know the other half will walk in at the most chauvinistic sexually-gratuitous part of the entire game!! I was playing God of War 3 for like a week and a half and the only time my girlfriend walked in was right in the middle of the sex mini-game with Aphrodite... and a pal of mine was watching me play it too... So yeah, she already thinks I'm a pervert... What the hell I'm getting it!

This is the kind of game I would happily pay for an artbook for.

This looks absolutely lovely, and I hope it gets a PC release (dreams are lovely things, eh chaps). Sorta like I hope Bayonetta does. Have you noticed that all teh games with the *cough cough* foxy female characters don't have a PC release date?

I don't want anyone to see that I (will) have Catherine, let alone explain it. And what's this?! 11 tracks? That's probably not even a fifth of all the music in the game! When it gets announced for the US, I hope the Collector's/Limited Edition is much more fleshed out.

Honey please, that isn't a porn site in my web history, it is a classy adventure movie with an adult atmosphere.
