Bungie Aerospace will help independent developers launch mobile and social games

When Bungie first launched its mysterious site for a project called Bungie Aerospace, we were hoping it’d be for the studio’s next game. But it turns out Bungie Aerospace isn’t a game at all. Instead, it is a new business venture to help independent developers launch mobile and social games. Bungie Aerospace’s first partner will be with the Seattle-based developer Harebrained Schemes, which is working on its first iOS/Android game, “Crimson."

Earlier this month, a rumor based on an open invitation to show up at Bungie’s office in Bellevue, WA dressed in “steampunk finery” sparked rumors that Bungie Aerospace would be the studio’s next game and that it would sport a steampunk theme. It turned out that the invitation was for the photoshoot was to assist with art for a steampunk game from another developer. Now, we’re guessing that the developer using Bungie’s office was Harebrained Schemes - and that the steampunk game will be Crimson, which is scheduled to launch this summer.

no developer has better community ties than bungie, helping indie developers launch their titles with bungie.net integration is just Bungie continuing to do what it always has done, develop and support its incredible fanbase...

Its funny that Bungie is helping to kill the industry it helped make popular.

I was afraid that Aerospace wouldn't be their new game. Makes me wonder when Bungie'll release details on their new game. Since they didn't say anything at E3, I'd assumed they were waiting for Bungie Day. Oh well.

Seems cool, but I really don't care about mobile or social games though.
