Bulletstorm demo coming January 25

There's a storm approaching! It's not a big deal, though - just know that if you live in Michigan you may see 2 to 4 inches of snow tonight, so have that shovel ready to clear out the drive in the morning. Also, a Bulletstorm demo is coming to Xbox Live and PSN later this month.

The demo will feature a peek at the game's "Echo" mode, which records and compares scores as players take on locations isolated from the single-player campaign. The snippet featured in the demo will have players "traverse a collapsed building on the deadly paradise planet Stygia as ex-Dead Echo leader Grayson Hunt." That's right - the game is so intense that it features oxymoronic deadly paradises.

Above: This probably isn't in the demo

You'll get to play with the game's "Skillshot" system, which encourages extra-creative murderizing, as well as some of its larger-than-Cloud-Strife weapons, including the "futuristic" Peace Maker Carbine, the Flail Gun, which "fires two grenades linked by a chain," and the Screamer, "a powerful revolver that turns enemies into human fireworks."

But boring old fun isn't all you get for playing the demo! You'll also be able to unlock platform-specific upgrades for the full game's Anarchy mode. Suck on some incentive!

On January 25, the demo will be available worldwide on Xbox Live, and in North America on PSN. It will be available on PSN in Europe the next day. There's no word on a PC demo.

Bulletstorm will release for reals on February 22 in North America and February 25 in Europe. Because GamesRadar is a website about games, and Bulletstorm is a game, we have more information on it, including previews and trailers, so look at that. And if you're in Michigan, remember close your car's sunroof.

@JohnnyMaverik Not that your complaints aren't justified, but Cliff Blesinski did confirm Bulletstorm was coming out on Steam.

This game is made for no other reason than to just be fun... Its going to be so outlandish and awesome that I will probably be playing this multiplayer for years to come. Can't wait for the demo.

Glad for the demo, really liking the look of this game but want to try it out before I splash out on it. But also, yeah it sucks hard that they aren't showing support for the PC community again. I don't do a lot of PC gaming but those guys deserve a lot better than they get these days.

Bulletstorm looks like its gonna be a right laugh... AT THE PC GAMERS LOLOLOL Fake trolling aside (I actually think PC gaming should get more support than consoles), this game is definitely going to control me. After I've completed an underwater mansion in Minecraft, and finished ACB. This is going to TOTALLY OWN my 2012.

"Epic Games and EA announce plans to release playable demos for Bulletstorm beginning on January 25. Noticeably absent from the announcement is any mention of a PC demo for this game that Mark Rein described as "a full-blown, oh-my-god amazing PC game." We contacted Epic about this and confirmed that at this time there are no plans for a PC demo, but Mark was not around to explain why this is the case." Lol, nope, no pc demo, GFWL, no Steam release and I bet you my right testicle the PC port, because that's what it'll be, a flaky port, will be delayed by at least a month, probably more. It's Gears all over again, and I bet they'll still have the audacity to complain when it doesn't "sell to their expectations". Wankers.

I was thinking that bulletstorm was the name of the gun that fires a million bullets in one go, but it's actually called metal storm. Bulletstorm sounds cooler.

This is going to be great, it looks a little less dark than gears but still looks gory as hell. This is going to be sweet.

This one could be a real sneaky success. Not heard much about it, but looks like a potential cracker...
