Great use of "thrice." Please continue to spread the word of Conan.

Though I did miss Metroid Prime and The Secret of Monkey Island on the list, I still respect your choices, guys. I certainly agree that Twilight Princess deserves a place over OoT, as well. Time for me to get the Gamecube version, I think.

If you go by what game I've enjoyed most and replayed most, then my choice for number one would be a tie between Secret of Monkey Island and Deus Ex. I liked Portal, but not enough to call it the best videogame of all time. However, to each their own. I should know. #3 on my list of the best games ever would be "Random collection of strategy games by Paradox". I have put more hours into Victoria 2 alone than almost any other video game.

@BigKingBud Yep, I got a big GTA vibe from Super Mario Galaxy 2. Dozens of hooker bodies are currently floating in the cosmos.

I haven't played portal (I know, shame on me, right.) So i can't comment about it. However, I AM glad that they excluded both Ocarina of Time, and Final fantasy VII. To begin with, they stated since the beginning that they were talking about games that STILL held up today, and I'm sorry, neither of those two do. Furthermore, as defining and popular as they may be, both are way distorted thanks to nostalgia goggles. And yes, i played them both back when they came out, and yes, I liked them, but I don't consider them to be the fucking sacred gems most wail them to be. Overall, i really liked GR's list, in the games that they included, if not necessarily the order. i do believe MGS is way too low, but that's my main complain, really.

    "I love how all"

I loe how al of these commenters state their opinions like they're facts. I disagree with this list (oh, man do I disagree), but I'm not gonna bitch to them. If you guys want your games up there...make one in the forums?

Damn. I wish my fifth birthday was this fancy...

Gamers love to bitch. Gamers are the whiniest group of people ever.

Ditto NightCrawler. and also the only reason Portal shouldn't get #1 is because of its short length. Which Portal 2 will remedy in just a bit.
  • ssj4raditz - April 9, 2011 3:10 a.m.

I love that picture of Tim Schafer.
  • PimplesInYourAsstista - April 9, 2011 3:08 a.m.

    Portal defiantly deserves #1.
  • NightCrawler_358 - April 9, 2011 3:07 a.m.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't believe that any Call of Duty game made it on the list. If that is the case, that makes me kind of happy, but i do actually believe 4 deserves a spot. Just 4.
  • HyperPoweredHighFive - April 9, 2011 2:57 a.m.

Jeez, I didn't even notice ocarina of time was excluded. Also, @ Imthedoctor, this is based on how much fun they are to play NOW. Not how influential.
  • D0CCON - April 9, 2011 2:45 a.m.

I've always considered Portal to be perfection distilled down to its purest essence. I think that counts as being the best videogame ever.
  • XLGirthMan - April 9, 2011 2:41 a.m.

Kingdom Hearts being in the list appeased me, so I have no complaints.
  • Imthedoctor - April 9, 2011 2:31 a.m.

Goldeneye is definitely up there too ;)
  • bball42242442 - April 9, 2011 2:27 a.m.

only 5 of us that said Goldeneye... wow, surprising
  • Imthedoctor - April 9, 2011 2:27 a.m.

Portal is definitely not the best game ever..it's good..just not the best..at all. I'd go with GTA 3, that was groundbreaking, LITERALLY. That or Halo 1, that changed everything, Super Mario 64 changed 3D gaming, or Final Fantasy VII. Plus, i think Tetris was #2 on your list?? Thats a no no :/ All and all though it was a decent countdown. Crash or spyro or sly or jak or ratchet should of been in it..but whatevs, doesn't change how good they were
