The amount of negativity here astounds me. I personally am ridiculously excited. ME1 and ME2 were incredible. ME3 looks to combine the best of both worlds. Can't wait.

We're negative because we really don't like to see an RPG company slide into Gears of War (ME2) and God of War (Dragon Age 2). Why is that hard to understand?
  • babyhenchy1 - November 2, 2011 11:05 p.m.

DA2 was a disappointment but they're adding a lot more RPG elements into ME3 and I loved the gameplay in Mass Effect 2. Isn't it better to combine the gameplay from ME1 and ME2 since it was meant to be an RPG/TPS in the first place?

You've got to be crazy to think ME1 could hold a candle to ME2 or ME3. Great work Bioware.
  • jackthemenace - November 2, 2011 1:01 p.m.

Personally, I hated ME2. No matter how decent the story was, I found the gameplay so ridiculously dumbed down from the first instalment that I found it hard to finish. As such, I'm really excited that ME3 is supposed to be more RPG and less Shooter than the second Game, but still more accessible then the first.

jackthemenace is totally right. ME2's gameplay was painfully dumbed down. I felt like BioWare thought I was a's you cover, now duck behind it, now repeat 1000x. In ME1 you had to customize your own guns and survive without cover (gasp!).

Why is everyone so negative?? This is gonna be a great game! Bioware churns out quality games, and they won't let their dream project turn into a corporate zombie. They have never let me down before, and I refuse to believe that they will now. Mass Effect is one of my favorite series of all time, and this is something I have been looking forward to with great anticipation. So, I say "Screw the haters!" It is my belief that Mass Effect 3 will be an example for space epics to follow for a long time to come.
  • Not Snake - November 1, 2011 8:53 p.m.

I'm not being negative, just nervous. Mass Effect 2's story didn't meet the first's stellar lead, and in recent years the third in a trilogy hasn't had the best of luck. Don't get me wrong, I preordered my collector's edition months ago and I have no intention of cancelling, and I have between 5 and 9 characters to run through the game with. So, just nervous. But it does have some huge expectations to live up to. Two games and years of playing, thinking, hoping, expecting...

ME1's story was fascinating; ME2's hinted at something fascinating. I hope ME3 will be the full realization of that story.
  • Brumbek - November 2, 2011 8:40 p.m.

If you didn't think Dragon Age 2 was a letdown compared to Dragon Age 1...well, then you probably don't like epic RPGs, which is fine I suppose...
  • IceSickle - November 1, 2011 6:31 p.m.

A “definitive end”, eh? Inevitably minus the mountains of DLC including the even more definitive ending, prologue, maps for the (entirely misplaced and unwanted) multiplayer etc.
  • IceSickle - November 1, 2011 6:33 p.m.

    *epilogue >.<
  • Brumbek - November 1, 2011 6:12 p.m.

LOL at BioWare. ME1 was more of an epic space RPG than ME3 will ever dream of being. Now ME3 will surely be the most Gears of War-like of the three...maybe that's what BioWare had in mind all along? ...Scary thought.
  • Drphil17 - November 1, 2011 6:36 p.m.

probaby not this one will wrtap up every conflict and relationship and choice.Finding out the mystery behind the reapers and finding out how to kill them all will probably be pretty epic considering that was what we all wanted to do ever since we beat the first one
  • McSpermie - November 1, 2011 5:41 p.m.

“We want to make sure that if someone is new to the franchise they feel very comfortable playing Mass Effect 3.” That doesn't make any sense, this game is supposed to be a conclusion for this series. You don't just walk into a third part for a movie or book. EA really exposed Bioware's dark side. All they care about is money now.
  • Jacko415 - November 1, 2011 6:12 p.m.

How the hell did you deduce that from that quote? They probably just mean they're gonna make what happened in the previous games clear to new people and making the gameplay a little more accessible.
  • Ultimadrago - November 1, 2011 5:17 p.m.

Well, we'll see how things turn, eh Bioware? I'll let time be judge.
  • BladedFalcon - November 1, 2011 5:07 p.m.

Well, that's what we are all hoping for. but I'd be more happy if Bioware didn't boast about it beforehand. That usually never ends well.
