And not one Resident Evil title? Not even 4?
  • GRHenry - April 22, 2012 1:03 a.m.

Don't worry, we put RE4 in the coveted #18 spot

Ha, sorry man. I'm a drunken fool. Should pay more attention. I truly didn't see either of the games I mentioned not being on there, but they are. Honest, drunk mistake

Should read: *With the potential to become the most power beings in existence And ...

I tried to enjoy Mass Effect 2, but I compare it to Mass Effect 1 so I cannot just be a brainless zombie and think it is great. No RPG element, no customization in weapons/upgrades, the entire game is just filler and full of plot holes. Unfortunately it was after Mass Effect's success that EA bought the trilogy and did nothing but advertise for a mindless sexy space action game so kids like YOU would take notice. I doubt any of you even played Mass Effect 1, but you get brainwashed by advertisements and see tits in ME2 and love it.

No X-com anywhere on the list?!

No, it wasn't meant to be asshole-ish (altough I agree that it can come across as that for certain people, so I apologyze), but I think that for all the advancements games are still (should be) games, and even tough I think that Final Fantasy IV, VI, Tactics and VII, Chrono Trigger, Phantasy Star II and IV, both Lunar games, Suikoden II and III, the original Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill 2 have great stories and character arcs, even they pale in comparison to the stories of most books and even some movies. Actually the problem I have with modern games (especially W/JRPG) is that they try way too much to be a movie/book and forget to be videogames, wich sucks all the fun out of it. The JRPG genre in triying to be realistic or way to serious has caused it's own debacle in the last decade (and it hasn't produced -aside from Xenoblade and Last Story- a tale worth giving a damm about in the last decade), and frankly I find it rather pointless to ask for a "Casablanca"/"Citizen Kane" style of narrative from a medium were most people in charge hardly have any writing cred and are mostly concerned with the mechanics of the games... yes, we should ask for quality of writting, but if it comes at the expense of good gameplay then NO thanks. Characters to care about should be a stapple, but even if you manage that and the gameplay doesn't add up, then it's pretty pointless (ex. Chrono Cross has a very interesting story, characters and premise, but it's marred by awful design choices). Altough it's not fair to compare the stories of books to that of videogames (books have had centuries to develop as an art form, videogames only a couple of decades), I stand by my ground that even when the stories are not great, if the gameplay is really FUN then what does it really matter if the story and/or character development is not as good (ex. Rogue Galaxy, Xenoblade and even Final Fantasy V, while they don't have the greatests stories by a long mile, they have great gameplay and replay value). "Characters and plots I take seriously are those that have me caring for the people in them. Something that Final Fantasy has never really been able to do outside of Final Fantasy IV and VI." Actually I think you could say the same for almost every game (regardless of genre) in the last fifteen years with very little exceptions... wich is expected, most of the stories from videogames (even old ones) are just excuses to continue playing and "deep inmersion" should come primarly from it's gameplay mechanics and game world design and not (only for/at the expense of) it's stories and characters.

I will say it: Portal > FFVII
  • PunballWizard - April 25, 2012 7:12 p.m.

Just because more people played a game does not make it better. Modern Warfare 3 sold over 20 millions globally FFVII sold about 8 million. Would you say MW3 is better than FFVII Same could be said with almost any game and Okami. So shut up. It's an opinion list, not fucking law.
  • PunballWizard - April 25, 2012 7:14 p.m.

    I love you BladedFalcon!
  • simplethunder - April 27, 2012 7:14 a.m.

Splinter Cell doesn't make the list ?! SC1 was epic ! And what about Perfect Dark on N64 (my favorite game when i was a little girl) ? They are better than a lot of games in this list.

1)Ocarina of Time is the best game of all time on 4 out of 5 top games of all time lists but it doesn't even make the top 100 here... I find that almost reason enough to discredit this entire list. It's like talking about the top 100 quarter backs of all time and not even having Joe Montana or Peyton Manning even make the list. 2)Portal=Fun but Portal doesn't = Best game ever. 3)Also I loved Mass Effect 2 but top ten really...really? 4)Also, Also, I loved Portal but number 1 really...Really...REALLY!
  • TheGuy0526 - April 30, 2012 1:29 p.m.

I'm royally pissed as Gamesradar. F*ck portal, and where is Dead Space? Dead space sh*ts on half of those games.
  • jon-natole - May 1, 2012 7:31 p.m.

Final Fantasy 7 is the greatest game ever created, the fact that there are two final fantasy titles in this list and neither is 7 leaves me feeling disgusted. Kudos for having Chrono Trigger at 3
  • SpaceDesperado - May 4, 2012 1:49 a.m.

Glad GTA IV is in your top 10... not saying it's a perfect list, for example ME1 topples ME2, but just glad you guys realized and appreciate it's very high quality over unnecessary/mindless quantity.
  • gametag - May 8, 2012 11:06 a.m.

Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy 7 Missing? Speechless. You guys really aren't on the same page with the overall voting, are you?
  • Elard621 - May 15, 2012 2:43 p.m.

Serously dude, you don´t seem like an anime or game character when you say "that reading comments like yours only serve to entertain me, so thanks for that! ^^" You seem like a dumbass, especially considering that you don´t have anything better to do than pissing off other people. Also, wether you agree with Gamesradar or not, you shouldn´t reply to people´s opinion. You aren´t hired to defend Gamesradar when they are right. If they are professional journalist they should defend themselves. Just deal with other people´s comments. And even if you eventually get hired to defend Gamesradar, you don´t have to treat other people like sh!t. You aren´t God you know?
  • Elard621 - May 17, 2012 3:38 p.m.

My comment is in fact full of rage so sorry. But still, stop defending Gamesradar and pissing off other people. It isn´t nice.
  • TheGreatCat - May 21, 2012 9:11 a.m.

  • TheGreatCat - May 21, 2012 9:14 a.m.

  • brett-michael-moss - May 22, 2012 11:24 a.m.

I liked the list but I disagree that they put Assassins Creed II in 49 and Skyrim in the 30s. And GTA 4 in 6. That game was horrible.
