Assassin's Creed IV trailer shows piratical history

Any resemblance to pirates living or dead is entirely intentional

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag dives into a golden age of piracy, when Europe's grip on its Caribbean colonies and wealth was threatened by independent privateers en masse. Captain Edward Kenway is a threatening figure at sea or on land--but he's not the only scallywag ships and nobles had to worry about.

The historical series has always been great at piquing interest in its chosen eras. Ubisoft's capitalized on this with its "Under the Black Flag" Tumblr, which chops up the history of Caribbean pirates into social-media-ready images and blurbs.

History teachers, if any of your students in history class turn in animated gifs with their 18th century review work, you know whom to blame.
