Animal Crossing: New Leaf character creation guide

The Animal Crossing series has always felt very personalized, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf is now different. Starting a new game will put you in the place as the mayor of your very own town, but it's not just the town you can customize. It's possible to give your character different faces, clothes, and hairstyles.

Upon beginning the game, Rover will ask you a series of questions. After picking your town name and layout, your answers to the proceeding questions will affect the look of your character. Follow the conversation below to see how the conversation flows, and keep reading to see what those different models look like!

"Well, that's a fantastically great name!"

"Cool, right?" (selects boy)
"Cute, right?" (selects girl)
"Oops, I misspoke!" (returns to name entry)

This question affects your character's gender, but no other characteristics.

"You seem like a pretty cool guy to me!" - or - "And so fitting for a girl like you!"

"I know, right?" (keeps selected gender)
"I'm not a boy!" - or - "I'm not a girl!" (switches to opposite gender)

This question affects your character's gender, but no other characteristics.

Questions and Answers

From this point forward, Rover will ask you several questions about the town and why you are headed there. Listed below are all possible answer combinations for Rover's questions. Find your pattern to determine which model you'll get, or use the list to make the model you want!
