Amalur: Reckoning, other 38 Studios properties to be auctioned in November

The rights to Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Rise of Nations will go up for auction on Nov. 14 and 15, GamesIndustry International reports. The former properties of 38 Studios and Big Huge Games will be sold off more than a year after the studio went bankrupt, taking millions of dollars in Rhode Island state loan guarantees with it.

The rights to Project Copernicus, an unreleased fantasy MMO in the Amalur universe, are up for grabs along with Reckoning. The "Big Huge Games Engine" and 38 Studios' own development platform will also go to the highest bidders.

Reckoning sold reasonably well, so the pre-built fantasy universe may be attractive to other developers--especially with Copernicus' ample assets sitting unused.

I loved Amalur and was gutted when the studio went tits up. I really hope it gets picked up and we see more games set in that universe.

Amalur way, WAY better than I expected it to be. I hope a good studio acquires it and hopefully we'll get a sequel one day. Please...

The armor/weapon and magic progression was fun during the grind, however once I reach about level 30 I had the best armor/weapons already made and waiting for me to use. On top of that I managed to get a decent magic/sword combo going and I lost interest. If a new studio were to buy the property rights they need to focus on the story a hell of a lot and if possible retcon the name of the elves and give them a less of a generic fantasy name. Hell calling them elves out right might help a little. Other than that little retcon and focusing on the story, a sequel or another game set in the Amalur universe would be exciting to see.

I hope it finds a good home, I loved Amalur reckoning a lot. I'd love to see more of the universe
