007 Legends to toast James Bond's career

007 is taking a trip down memory lane with the release of 007 Legends, Activision's next James Bond title featuring missions inspired from the uber-spy's films.

Developed as an homage to Bond's 50-year history, 007 Legends will cast players as the iconic superagent in an original story that will include locations and scenes culled from six James Bond movies, including the franchise's upcoming flick, Skyfall. In standard fashion, players will be aided in their missions with super-cool spy toys, fast cars, faster women, and weapons that compliment each individual James Bond era.

"Creating a video game storyline that ties together six popular, yet very different,” said David Oxford, Executive VP at Activision Publishing. “Bond movie narratives can be challenging, but together with EON Productions, our developer Eurocom, has pulled it off to create an homage that we think will be a unique and highly entertaining Bond video game."

Outside of the single player campaign, 007 Legends will feature the return of GoldenEye 007: Reloaded's Mi6 Ops Missions, this time allowing virtual agents to also relive the special assignments through the perspective of Bond's enemies. Four-player-split-screen and online multiplayer modes will also be included.

007 Legends is scheduled to crack wise and snap necks on PS3 and Xbox 360 this fall.

The Sonic Generations of 007? Sonic has been on the up and up lately, and now he's apparently influencing popular culture again. Still, this is a great idea and it'll be interesting to see what comes of it. It's nice to see a traditional piece of pop culture being honoured in this way, and if handled right it should be a blast.

I skipped most of the Bond games before Goldeneye for Wii, and that one was just decent, so I'll probably skip this unless it somehow manages glowing reviews, which I'm not anticipating.

I dont get why there is all the hate on Daniel Craig; I think he's the best Bond yet. Yup, I said it, fuck off. Hopefully, this Bond game has more character than Goldeneye and Quantum of Solace.

Yes, your reasoning? He may be your favorite actor yet, but the best bond? A bold claim. Obviously one from someone who doesn't know what James Bond is supposed to be. Go back to watching your shitfest of badly made shoot'em ups.

Do YOU know what James Bond is supposed to be like? Ian Fleming hated Sean Connery with a passion, calling him a '****ing truck driver', while all Bonds since were a variation of the cinematic Bond, not Fleming's Bond. Back in the day, Fleming stated 'I wanted him to be a blunt instrument', which Craig provided in a much less gadget-laden, more believable way (which was the whole point, since Fleming himself was a spy). Feel free to argue that the modern films have too much action, but if you knew what James Bond is 'supposed to be' like you claim, you'd know that Craig's portrayal is much closer to the 'real Bond' than any of the previous actors.

Actually, I think you'll find Timothy Dalton was closest the the true bond. Lots of shooting/big explosions =/= James Bond. Read all the books, watched all the films. Try again in your next life, perhaps.

As long as they don't have a certain blonde fanny in the game. If they do, I won't even read the review let alone buy the game.

So basically we're getting a preview about the next studio that Activision is going to close down?
  • newarkd - April 18, 2012 1:33 p.m.

You think they would license all those Bonds? Really? They didn't even bother to grab brosnan. Doubt they'd do all the work of getting them in. Probably just have Craig for all of them. I still couldn't figure out why they would insert him into the wrong game/movie

Really, really hope this is good. I'm STILL playing Goldeneye on the Wii! reCAPTCHA is racist! - rectify Judese

It's baffling to me how it's even possible to make a bad Bond game. But time and time again, they do it. It's also baffling to me why they're still trying.

If only Sean Connery could actually be a part of it, it would have a chance at uber-success.

If it's as shitty as golden eye reloaded I don't even wanna hear about it
  • alanmao - April 18, 2012 10:20 a.m.

YEAH! I am looking forward to this game! I have seen many Bond films and I hope this game rocks!

Yes! I am looking forward to this! Hope all goes well for this game! I have seen many Bond films and this sounds great!

Will these six films be one from each bond? we could have skyfall with Daniel Craig, with Pierce Brosnan anything but goldeneye or tommorow never dies because it was stupid, maybe die another day (goldeneye has been done far too many times and the idea of getting to drive the aston martin vanish is too tempting), For your eyes only with Roger Moore (please let this be one of the six due to it being my favourite bond movie of all time and the citroen chase was epic), Thunder ball with Sean Connery (best water level in gaming a very real possibility), but I never really cared about Timothy Dalton and it's best we forget George Lazenby so maybe You only live twice, the spy who loved me or octopussy.

Six films would almost certainly suggest one from each Bond. Otherwise, seems like it would be wiser to do...7 films. And Lazenby's one outing is considered one of the better films by some Bond fans, so I certainly hope they don't sweep it under the rug.

How about your choice of Bonds?
