We're only a little more than three months away from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which will see Warner Bros. expand their DC cinematic universe in a big way as it starts to set the stage for multiple Justice League movies. Director Zack Snyder has been chatting about the highly anticipated superhero clash with Obsev, noting that the drama in the movie could be just as much fun as the fisticuffs.
"I think the fun of the movie is that in the end it’s a drama. They have to figure out each other to fight each other. So it’s about what makes them tick and how that’s going to work out in a conflict".
The most recent Batman v Superman trailer indicated that the two heroes - in addition to Wonder Woman - will eventually have to battle Doomsday. That would seem a pretty big villain to include so early in the DCCU, but Snyder reassured that there are bigger baddies on the horizon. "We’re working on Justice League right now, right? In a weird way, Justice League is the next step for these characters to form a bigger team. Maybe there’s a bigger enemy to fight".
Just who that "bigger enemy" is remains to be seen of course, but there are a host of DC characters who fit the bill. Darkseid and Brainiac are two threats that would definitely warrant the Justice League's attention, while the Injustice League would similarly require a group of heroes to resist them. Might we get some clues when Batman v Superman is released? We don't have long to wait to find out.
Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, Gal Gadot, Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Laurence Fishburne and Amy Adams, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will arrive in UK and US cinemas on March 25, 2016.
