Ubisoft is cooking up a new MMORPG for Nintendo's Wii U. This week, the company posted a number of jobs ads seeking all manner of online talent to help the studio develop a “Wii U – AAA Title” out of its Quebec City, Quebec (Canada) headquarters.
The jobs were announced on Twitter by Ubisoft's communications and networking specialist Emile Gauthier, who referred to the project as a “new AAA MMORPG game” and linked potential Ubisoft staffers to the ten official postings on the studio's Quebec office Facebook page. Although the Wii U isn't advertised in Gauthier's tweet, it does appear next to the listings for Senior Engine Programmer and Network Programmer.
Other jobs include 3D Animator, GFX Artist, Online Game Design Project Manager, and five other game design roles.
It's anyone's guess as to what Ubisoft is planning for Nintendo's Wii upgrade. The studio certainly has a number of franchises it could easily MMO-ify; but then it's also no stranger to tackling licensed titles. Maybe this a move to bump its Battle of Giants series for the DS and 3DS to the next level. Or maybe we're witnessing the start of a new Might and Magic. How about an Assassin's Creed MMO, as Ubisoft has said the franchise is headed to Wii U? Feel free to share your predictions and speculations below.
