The Conjuring 2 set for release in October 2015

Warner Bros has announced that The Conjuring 2 will be spooking up cinemas in October 2015.

The sequel to last year's ghost-centric chiller will appeal to the Halloween crowd by opening on 23 October 2015, just a few weeks after spin-off Annabelle , which is set for 3 October.

Original Conjuring writing team Carey and Chad Hayes are back onboard, as are stars Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren.

There's no official word on the plot yet, though rumours have already circulated that the film could revolve around the haunting of two sisters in Enfield, London.

Considering the real-life Warrens investigated over 10,000 cases in their time, there's plenty of material for the Hayes' to rinse for scares.

One person apparently not returning for a second go is director James Wan, who's currently working on Fast & Furious 7 .

Last year, Wan announced that The Conjuring would be his last horror film, calling it his "swan song to the genre".
