Sony Pictures revealed dates for its future slate today with 15 films now officially on the studio's schedule, including Bad Boys 3 and 4, a Jumanji reboot and Stephen King adaptation The Dark Tower. The former pair of action-cop sequels are the biggest surprise here, surfacing only as rumor before.
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence starred in the 1995 original and reteamed for the sequel in 2003. Last year, Lawrence mentioned that Jerry Bruckheimer was tinkering with a script, and now it looks as though that screenplay caught Sony's attention. It's likely that both actors will reprise their roles as Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, with Joe Carnahan eyed for the director's chair.
Elsewhere, the Jumanji reboot is opening Christmas 2016, providing families who aren't fussed about Star Wars: Rogue One with an alternative. Moving into 2017, The Dark Tower now sits in the perilous early January period, typically reserved for movie duds. Josh Boone is directing the two-part movie based on Stephen King's epic series of novels, with an eye to continuing the story in further sequels.
