Minecrafters have spent the last couple of years bricking music videos, The Simpsons intros, Game Boy recreations, and video game trailers. These have all been impressive in their own right, but now the new block-it-yourself project to beat is this epic reconstruction of Hyrule from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time:
Built by the team at GenGAME, Hyrulecraft took nine months to construct, and is currently available to preview on the Hyrulecraft Server at IP: 184.108.40.206.
According to GenGAME's website, this is merely the foundation for a “Minecraft MMO experience” that will eventually offer actual quests, NPCs, multiplayer features, and “more of the classic Minecraft stuff you know and love.”
Considering the cross-section of Minecraft players and Legend of Zelda fans, this is not the first blocky homage to the Nintendo classic. It also won't be the last. Completely original or not, Hyrulecraft is a genuine work of art, and a solid example of why Mojang's game has amassed over 20 million users, and counting.
