Josh Pence bags a pivotal Dark Knight Rises role

Josh Pence has been cast in a key flashback role in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises , according to Heat Vision.

It's a potentially spoilery role, so anyone hoping to go into the movie cold should probably stop reading now.

Pence will play the young Ra's Al Ghul in flashback scenes that take place some 30 years before the current setting. He's certainly got a look that would make him an uncannily-striking match for a young Liam Neeson.

This news is in keeping with previous comments by Gary Oldman, who claimed the trilogy closer would return to the events of Batman Begins .

Marion Cotillard has been linked to the role of Ra's Al Ghul's daughter Talia, although her casting has yet to be confirmed.

Pence was dealt the short straw with his appearance in Fincher's Facebook movie. He played Tyler Winklevoss, but he had to have his fizzog digitally replaced by Armie Hammer's in a scarily-seamless piece of SFX magic, to create the identical twins effect.

He has also wrapped shooting a role in Peter Berg's 2012 blockbuster hopeful, Battleship .

The Dark Knight Rises will shoot imminently, and this casting news has us going even more insane with excitement thinking about the scope of Nolan's final Bat-flick.
