Jessica Chastain joins Snow White And The Huntsman spinoff

Universal’s sorta-prequel to Snow White and The Huntsman - simply titled, The Huntsman - has now added Jessica Chastain to its expanding cast. Per Deadline, the Interstellar actress is expected to play Chris Hemsworth’s love interest.

The film will expand the world created in the 2012 original and explore the time when Hemsworth’s Huntsman first crossed paths with Charlize Theron’s tyrannical Ravenna. For now, the specifics of Chastain’s role are being kept under wraps but early rumours suggest she could be playing an archer.

Also joining the cast are Emily Blunt, whose villainous involvement has now been confirmed, and Nick Frost who will reprise his role as the dwarf Nion. It’s still unknown whether or not original leading lady Kristen Stewart will return.

Cedric Nicolas-Troyan - who received an Academy Award nomination in Visual Effects for his work on the original - will direct The Huntsman, from a script by The Walking Dead’s Frank Darabont.
