Fable Legends won't get an open beta until spring

Fable Legends, the free-to-play online RPG with cross-play between PC and Xbox One, has been pushed out of 2015. Rather than giving Lionhead Studios time to think of a new name that isn't roughly equivalent to Story Tales or Myth Rumors, the game apparently turned out much bigger than it expected and thus needs more time in closed beta.

Fable Legends wasn't originally scheduled to come out out in 2015, but Lionhead previously said it would enter open beta in time for the holidays. Since that's nearly the same thing for a free-to-play game without a box to put on shelves, it is kind of a big deal that it got pushed back again. Not to mention Fable Legends was announced way back in August 2013.

Up to four players can team up to work their way through oddly adaptive and cunning dungeons in Fable Legends, fighting familiar enemies like hobbes and finding new loot for their roster of heroes. Said dungeons are oddly adaptive and cunning because they're being run by a villain player, who uses their own special interface and powers to foil (read: kill) the heroes.

Lionhead plans to invite 100,000 more players into the Fable Legends closed beta over the next few weeks, with priority going to those who have been on the waiting list longest. Open beta is now set for spring of 2016.
