Don't have a 3D TV? Killzone 3 will still be awesome, says developer

Killzone 3 is poised to be one of the best-looking shooter games on the PS3 to date, and those with a 3D TV are quite possibly going to wet themselves when they see the humongous world presented in stunning stereoscopic 3D. But even if you don't have a 3D set-up, you'll still be amazed, says studio manager Herman Hulst.

"If you play it in 3D... you see some of the cut scenes and sequences in 3D, they look outstanding. They really pull you into the action. You're more than ever submerged," said Hulst in a revent interview... "But we don't want to alienate the core audience."

Hulst called 3D an "option," for those who can experience it. But it won't be the only reason to buy the game. He compared it to the game's PlayStation Move support. For players who have Move, they can incorporate motion controls in the Killzone 3 experience. But it's not required.

Hulst even gave readers a nice metaphor, saying the transition to 3D and Move is "just like we moved from mono sound to stereo sound. You wouldn't want to go back after awhile. But you don't force people to buy another transistor radio. When they're ready. We have to listen to the audience in that regard."

So to summarize: if you have Move but no 3D TV, you'll have a fun experience. If you have a 3D TV but no Move, your eyes will pop out of their sockets, and if you have both it'll be a complete sensory experience. But hey, even if you're a poor sap who doesn't like PlayStation Move and has an archaic 2D TV, you'll still enjoy it.

However, once you do get a 3D TV, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. Just like stereo sound.
