Watch Deus Ex devs play and talk about their creation 15 years on

You always hear about how Deus Ex is one of the best games ever, but it's tough to say how an ambitious game will hold up 15 years later. Three key members of the game's development staff seem uncertain themselves when they start this Let's Play video, organized by the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided team at Square Enix.

Warren Spector, director and producer, Sheldon Pacotti, writer, and Chris Nordem, lead programmer and assistant director, take an hour-long tour through their creation in the video. Plenty of insights emerge as they play: from little details, like how the game does real-time lip syncing based on audio waveforms, to big plot differences, like how there was originally going to be a fourth ending.

Giving Spector and company a stage to revisit their old creation is just about the best possible way Square Enix could pay homage to Deus Ex's past while stirring excitement for its future… or maybe that's the other way around, since Human Revolution and Mankind Divided are actually prequels.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
