If you're not yet angry over the level of insanity that has followed the iPhone game Angry Birds, you're about to be. The game's developer Rovio has apparently signed a deal with a toy manufacturer to bring Angry Birds to life in the form of uber cuddly plush toys.
I don't care what the name of the iPhone smash hit is, no one can be angry when they're holding one of these cute plus birds. That is, assuming they're reasonably priced. We haven't seen anything official about that yet.
For those who have been living under a rock in the middle of the ocean on the planet Neptune, Angry Birds came from a small and completely unknown development team for the iPhone earlier this year. Through word of mouth and viral marketing, it ended up selling more than seven million copies at 99 cents each.
Article continues belowThe success propelled Rovio to released it on Android for free, where it became the only Android game to reach a million downloads in one day. In short, it's kind of becoming a cultural phenomenon.
Rovio has already begun talking about an Angry Birds movie, and the company that published Angry Birds, Chillingo, was just bought out by EA. So make no mistake - these birds are here to stay, no matter how angry it makes them. We won't be happy until we see Angry Birds t-shirts, board games, and toothpaste.
Expect to see these plush guys pop up at all your favorite e-tailers, and maybe even game stores, for the holiday season.
