C is for The Cat Returns

Showing some of Ghibli’s finest and fantastically realised worlds, The Cat Returns follows a young girl who, upon saving the life of a cat, finds herself involuntarily engaged to the cat prince in a magical world where her only hope of freedom lies with a dapper cat statuette come to life. Released in 2002, The Cat Returns is a semi-spin off from 1995’s Whisper Of The Heart with minor character The Baron returning in a bigger role.

The latest film from Studio Ghilbli, From Up On Poppy Hill , arrives in UK cinemas on 2 August. Featuring the voice talent of Gillian Anderson, Christina Hendricks, Jamie Lee Curtis, Anton Yelchin and Aubrey Plaza and is directed by Goro Miyazaki.
