People may justifiably mock Achievement junkies for chasing empty points, but Avatar Awards are slightly more worth it. Instead of just increasing an abstract number when you complete a task, you get exclusive bits of fake clothing to play virtual dress-up in. Not all are winners, but more than a few are worth getting, if for no other reason than to show your Live friends that you unlocked some exclusive doohickey. Here’s more than a few you can wear with pride, plus what you have to do to get one for yourself.
Comic Jumper %26ndash; Captain Smiley Hat
Though it technically fits into the hat category, this awesome item makes it look like you’re wearing CJ hero Captain Smiley’s decapitated head, which is even better. Like many on the list, all that’s required for this Award is to complete the main campaign.
Costume Quest %26ndash; Pumpkin Mask and Pumpkin Pail
This dangerously cute combo of items are yours for little extra work on top of just playing the game. You get the mask for beating Double Fine’s adorable title, and you get the candy-carrying pail just for starting a new game after that.
Doom II: Hell on Earth %26ndash; Marine Suit
You get a fine looking t-shirt for beating the original game, but you can only outfit your Avatar like a green, space marine badass by completing the No Rest for the Living expansion for the XBLA title.

Earthworm Jim HD %26ndash; Earthworm Jim Supersuit
Despite EJ’s notorious difficult, the devs played nice with when it comes to awarding Jim’s trademark robo-suit. Just complete any of the bonus stages which you get access to when you come accorss one of the easy to find bonus canisters in the main game.
Halo: Reach %26ndash; Noble team helmets
If you want all the helmets for the ill-fated Reach team, here’s the not so way to get them.
Emile's Helmet – Earn a Bulltrue medal in multiplayer or Firefight matchmaking
Kat's Helmet – Avenge a teammate's death in multiplayer matchmaking
Jorge's Helmet – Earn a Killtacular medal in multiplayer matchmaking
Carter's Helmet – Clear a campaign mission on Legendary difficulty without dying
Jun's Helmet – Kill 100 enemies in a row without dying in campaign or Firefight
Ilomilo %26ndash; T-Shirt and Ilo %26amp; Milo Pets
That fashionable shirt is our favorite out of all the Award shirts out there, and the live mascots are a must have. The shirt’s pretty simple to get, just beat three levels in the game, while the virtual pets require collecting enough memory fragments to unlock a full memory. Perhaps our guide can help.
