We’ve had the good (Spider-Man and its sequel), the bad (Daredevil) and the ugly (that CG chunk of mucus that is the Hulk). Now, we can live safely with the knowledge that plenty more of Marvel Comic’s lycra-clad world-savers and evil-thwarters are destined for the big screen.
Marvel Enterprises has rechristened itself Marvel Entertainment, and has borrowed a shedload of cash against its catalogue of characters that will allow it to produce its own movies. The ten Marvel characters included in the deal are Captain America, The Avengers, Nick Fury, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Cloak & Dagger, Dr Strange, Hawkeye, Power Pack and Shang-Chi. Paramount has come on board as distributor for Marvel’s future projects.
So which superdude/ette gets priority? “I cannot wait to tell Captain America's story. It's a doozy of a story,” says Avid Arad, Marvel’s CEO. “But no character before its time. The scripts will dictate which is first.”
Insane casting ideas start here and now… Steve Guttenberg is a shoe-in as Captain A surely… hey …why are you making that face?
