Acting is a noble profession, often beset with disappointment and rejection, so if we at TF could give one slice of advice to anyone seeking out that all important big screen break it would be… make sure you’re between the ages of five and fifteen - ‘cos hero kids are the order of the day in Hollywood.
After Potter, Narnia, Stormbreaker, Eragon and the rest, Paramount have snaffled up the rights to the fantasy bestsellers by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. The tales follow the adventures of the Grace children, who, after moving in to a dusty old mansion called Spiderwick, make friends with fairies and goblins.
Charlie And The Chocolate Factory actor Freddy Highmore is set to play twins, tearaway troublemaker Jared and his nerdy sibling Simon – while Stormbreaker star Sarah Bolger has signed up to play their sister Mallory.
Shooting is slated to start in Montreal on 12 September, with Just Like Heaven helmer Mark Waters calling the shots.
