Ryan Gosling in talks to star in Blade Runner 2

While the world was watching the trailer for another little sci-fi movie called The Force Awakens, Blade Runner 2 dropped some pretty significant news of its own. Because not only has the long awaited sequel just found itself a new director, it could also have a star lined up as well…

On the directorial front, Denis Villeneuve has officially signed on to helm the project. The news completes a great week for the Prisoners director, whose film Sicario has just been added to the 2015 Cannes lineup.

However, perhaps even more eyecatching is the news that Ryan Gosling is currently in negotiations to star in the new film. No details have been revealed as to who he might be playing, but we do know the story will be set several decades after the events portrayed in the original movie.

Should he sign on the dotted line, Gosling will star alongside Harrison Ford, who has agreed to reprise his role as Rick Deckard. Principle photography is scheduled to begin next summer, with an official release date yet to be confirmed.
