ITV has just announced that its monster drama Primeval will return for a third series in 2009. And there’s going to be something new coming out of the anomalies – one viewer will see their very own monster terrorising the UK. The programme makers are inviting fans to submit their creature ideas to an online competition, and the winner will get to see their creation in the (virtual) flesh on the nation’s screens. The competition is running from now until 7 April – keep an eye on the official Primeval site for full details.
“We are extremely proud of Primeval and are overjoyed by the success of the second series,” said executive producer Tim Haines. “Its popularity demonstrates that you can create ‘characters’ in CGI that audiences will respond to. By giving people the opportunity to design a monster for the third series we are creating a chance for them to be more involved and feel closer to the programme.”
The next episode of Primeval airs this Saturday at 7pm on ITV1.
