Pirates of the Burning Sea - In the Bermuda Triangle

Farther down the beach, we found our crew lined up.They werefloating slightly above the ground with a spooky black smoke covering their faces - possession is no joke. The ghost responsible was hanging out nearby, but fighting with ghosts - like zombies - has a few extra rules to follow. A ghost can throw one of several kinds of debuffs on your character and, because they're ethereal, they don't do much damage to you,and you can't do much to them. To make the ghost more smashable we applied a bit of gravedustfrom the spirit's grave. It brought the ghost a bit more into the land of the living - a land that we could hit it in - but made it more of a physical threat to us. We were able to beat the ghost, and our crew stopped floating and emitting black smoke from their faces. One point for the good guys.

The next quest came from the spirit of a woman trapped in wooden statue from the bow of a wrecked ship. When we saw her, our gamer-sense immediately let us know that there was some bad juju voodoo afoot. As a spirit, she'd lost most of her ability to interact with the physical world, but gained translucent, gravity-defying hair (that was a big voodoo clue-in). No physical interaction and being stuck on the beach meant that she would have to rely on us to do her dirty work.

Shesent us to recover her skull from a powerful voodoo priest, who sits at the top of the food chain oftheisland. This time we ran into a whole swarm of zombies. Again, the first one was no problem. But, as we attracted attention, more zombies joined in and we were forced to run away before they could knock us down. At this point we applied a helpful item called Dead Man's Innards. We didn't get to see where the innards came from, but they effectively disguised our captain as bloodthirsty zombie. As long as she didn't start running, it was safe to walk among the undead.

We found our voodoo daddy near his island hut. It was a macabre scene. He seemed to be fond of creating zombies in order to kill them again, and we sat there watching him do just that for a minute. Not the kind of guywho would be fun to hang out at a party with. Our dead dame outfit allowed the captain to sneak past him and grab the skull.

On the way out we were noticed by a zombie boss - it turns out the bosses are much faster than your average zombie. He ran up to us with frightening speed and hamstringed us. We tried to hobble away, but his attacks had slowed the captain down too much to escape the zombies, and their numbers overcame her.One point for the zombies.
