Future Publishing has announced that from June, Official Playstation Magazine will carry the world's first playable Blu-ray covermount.
Hailed as an unmatched content distribution channel by Sony Computer Entertainemt UK managing director Ray Maguire, the announcement marks the next step in the long-running relationship between Future and Sony Computer Enteratinment Europe, which began in 1995 with playable demo discs for the Playstion One.
OPM's publisher Matt Piercesaid he wasdelighted with the partnership, promising that they will be working hard to ensure that gamers get the very best content for their PS3. Though initial content will focus on playable demos from both SCEE and third party developers, Future has expressed an intention to expand this to match the advanced multimedia capabilities of PS3 and Blu-ray. Other content suggested includes HD game and movie trailers and, in a nod back to the days of Net Yaroze, unique user-generated content.
The first playable Blu-ray disc will come with issue 7 of Official Playstaion Magazine, available from Friday 1st June.
