Microsoft Studios head to deliver Gamescom keynote

The Xbox One could take center stage again later this month at Gamescom, as Microsoft Studios head Phil Spencer will deliver Gamescom's keynote address.

Event organizer Koelnmesse issued a statement from Spencer (via CVG):

"The industry is at a turning point," Spencer said. "Gamescom is the ideal platform to discuss the impact of new hardware, accessories and software for the next generation of games. There has never been a better time to be a part of this industry. It is exciting to see how developers and authors use the new opportunities and create a completely new way of playing."

The date and details of Spencer's speech have not yet been announced. Given the statement and Microsoft's policy reversal on self-publishing late last month, it's likely he'll argue for the system as a friendly ecosystem for small and large developers alike.
