The Corsair HS35 V3 gaming headset is so lightweight that it may have just solved my summer migraine woes

The Corsair HS35 V3 Wireless gaming headset is currently on my testing bench, and its 250g weight is the saving grace of my summer. For whatever reason, the hot weather likes to be a major migraine trigger, and I've been struggling the last couple of months as here in Scotland we've already seen temperatures up to 29 degrees (that's 84.2 Fahrenheit for those of you outside the UK).

That might not seem that hot to some, but here, where we're used to gray skies, rain, and have buildings designed to store heat, it's not a pleasant experience, and it can be made all the worse when one of the best gaming headsets is putting extra pressure on your head. Yet, testing the HS35 V3 right now seems like fate as it doesn't just sound great, but it's so lightweight that my head has never felt better.

The HS35 V3 feels so light; had it not been for the fact that there's no ANC on board, I'd easily forget it was on my head altogether. It helps too that the suspended headband doesn't dig into my skull, which is unfortunately a pretty common experience with plenty of other pairs.

Nothing is worse then experience the sweltering heat of a hot day while testing a new headset (like that of the recent Turtle Beach Stealth Pro II) only to have it putting needless pressure on the top of my skull. Hot weather likes to plague me with migraines regardless, making my head extremely sensitive to any changes in the temperature, so adding an uncomfortable bit of tech into the mix is a good recipe to truly ruin my day. Fortunately, the HS35 V3 has done quite the opposite, and I feel far more chipper that I don't have to deal with any comfort issues.

The suspended headband, which is made up of a stretchy piece of fabric that's pulled tight to sit on top of my head, is also aided by the ultra-plush ear cushions. With these two features working in tandem, I've had an extremely pleasant week testing the headset so far that I'm considering taking it in place of my everyday headphones - something I don't typically do. Gaming headsets have a specific 'gamer' look to them that I don't like sporting in public, but I'm willing to make the sacrifice of looking a bit silly if it means I get to be comfortable.

This isn't technically the lightest headset I've ever tested. That award would go to the Logitech G325 Lightspeed, which was only 212g compared to the Corsair HS35 V3's 250g. However, I not only prefer how the HS35 V3 feels on the head, but how it looks in comparison to Logitech's lightweight pair.

Logitech chose not to include a physical microphone with its G325 Lightspeed headset, which I get, as that choice likely contributed to its light form factor. However, beamforming microphones personally give me a bit of an ick, as I prefer a physical boom arm that I can adjust as needs be. If I'm getting comments from my friends that I'm too loud while playing Marvel Rivals, it's far easier to just move the mic away from my mouth than it is to pull up any mic settings on my PS5, so a physical mic is always the better choice in my eyes.

I'm still in the early stages of testing for now, and I still have plenty of time to see how the HS35 V3 Wireless truly compares to the rest of the headsets I've looked at in 2026. Yet judging from its comfortable fit, physical microphone, and the fact that it has 50mm neodymium audio drivers and Dolby Atmos in its corner, it's looking pretty promising.

Hardware Editor

Ever since I first held a NES controller in my hand I've been obsessed with gaming, and the hardware it runs on. I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
