In the little over a year since the last Astro Bot game blasted onto the PS5, the best PS5 accessories have been bombarded with licensed tech from two Astro Bot DualSense controllers to an official Astro Bot Seagate Game Drive. What I never expected to see amongst all the robot-covered goodies however, was an Astro Bot Mini Fridge, but here we are.
The mini fridge is a complete replica of Astro's head, his little blue-ball antenna included. At the moment, I can only find it available for $99.99 at Target, and there's allegedly "only two left," but I feel that my gaming desk has never needed anything more. Having a mini fridge at arm's length does encourage more consumption of sugary drinks, though, which I could do without. But it's hard to ignore how much better my setup would look with Astro's glowing blue eyes staring back at me, keeping my soda cans cool to the touch.
The 4.0L capacity Astro Bot Mini Fridge is available at Target for $99.99, and can store up to 6 12oz cans of soda, or some snacks. Right in the box, you receive the cooler, a 120V AC power cord, and 3 removable shelves so you can tailor the interior of Astro's head to your liking.
I actually already have a mini fridge on my gaming desk. My in-laws gifted me a pink one during the holidays last year so I could keep a small collection of snacks and beverages for busy work days, and nights staying up late playing Repo with my pals. It can be a bit of an energy drain, and finding a spare plug was a massive pain, but I'd be willing to go through all that hassle again for this Astro Bot Mini Fridge.
According to the Target listing, which remains one of the only places where I've found any mention of this astronomically cool accessory, it can reach as cool as 27°F–32°F (15°C–18°C), which is plenty perfect for keeping my cans of gaming fuel cool, which is normally something of the fizzy and full of sugar variety.
Availability of this Astro Bot Mini Fridge might be low, but there's no shortage of Seagate Astro Bot Limited Edition Gaming Hard Drives up for grabs if you're on the hunt for some PS5 storage.

My favourite detail isn't how much it can store but the sheer amount of detail it holds. Its designers could have easily slapped some Astro-inspired art on a run-of-the-mill mini blue fridge, but they went all out, recreating Astro's head instead. As there's been no official announcement yet for this product, I don't officially know if this was designed by Sony, but the images do reveal Sony copyright information on the back of the fridge. It's also listed at the UKONIC site, a company known for making licensed tech, including official mini fridges based on everything from Fallout to Stranger Things.
Regardless, the idea of having a decapitated Astro Bot head on your gaming desk might not seem too appeasing to some, but I love it when merch (and tech) is a scaled replica, rather than a cheap-looking piece covered in stickers that anyone would produce.
The eyes also glow, which is a detail I always felt was lacking with both official Astro Bot DualSense controllers. The official Seagate Astro Bot Limited Edition Gaming Hard Drive does include a piece of blue LED lighting, but that's it. In the game, Astro's blue eyes are super vivid and illuminated, so it makes sense that any replica or merch would have light-up eyes; it just took until this mini fridge to see it become a reality.
As neat as this Astro Bot Mini Fridge looks, I can't seem to find it available at all in the UK. We aren't devoid of Astro Bot merch over here, but it nevertheless hurts that I can't stick it on my desk. You can bet I'll be keeping an eye on the availability of this fridge across the US and UK, and will let any of you fellow Astro Bot fans know if and when it blasts onto other retailers.

Ever since I first held a NES controller in my hand I've been obsessed with gaming, and the hardware it runs on. I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
