Kingdom 3: Rising Realms announced as the beloved tower defense strategy series returns for another act
Build, defend, and expand when Kingdom 3: Rising Realms comes to a platform near you
Kingdom 3: Rising Realms has been announced at The Future Games Show at Gamescom, and it hits all the notes you know and love from the tower defense series.
Announced with a lovely trailer featuring hand-drawn animation, you get a quick refresher of the lore of the land before learning about the mysterious forces of Greed, who have now learned to rule. Clearly, this is going to be a problem.
Much like before, the goal here is to set out and reclaim your shattered Kingdom and forge a legacy worth telling for generations to come. You'll travel to unexplored and procedurally generated lands and discover mythical creatures and artifacts – all while recruiting subjects and elites to your cause as you aim to restore the realms.
You'll need to be prepared, though, as night sees the monstrous Greed and their sinister king test your defenses as they try to burn it all to the ground. Thankfully, there are more strategic options thanks to elites, which as specialist units that grant you new abilities that can be used to overcome what's ahead. They're upgradable, too, so they can really grow with you.
Here's the blurb: "The world is shattered: Buildings have crumbled, the land left barren, and its people scattered... but is all lost? In this broken world full of ancient monuments casting shadows across its many islands, the fires of hope can still be re-kindled! You are the Monarch, and you wear the Crown of Creation, granting you the ability to call upon the powers of legend. The future of Kingdom is in your hands now…"
Kingdom 3: Rising Realms is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and Steam, though you'll need to sit tight and wait for release timings.

I joined GamesRadar+ in May 2022 following stints at PCGamesN and PocketGamer.Biz, with some freelance for Kotaku UK, RockPaperShotgun, and VG24/7 thrown in for good measure. When I'm not running the news team on the games side, you'll find me putting News Editor duties to one side to play the hottest JRPG of 20 years ago or pillaging the depths of Final Fantasy 14 for a swanky new cloak – the more colourful, the better.
