Sorry gaming budget, but the Persona 4 Revival Collector's statue is calling my name
The collector's edition includes an eye-catching P4R Protag and Izanagi statue
I usually have a rule to avoid most collector's editions. Often, the extra merch that's packed inside these pricey versions isn't of the quality you'd want to show off in your house, gaming room, or even your bathroom. Let's not forget the Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater statue, shall we?
That being said, I'm finding it pretty hard not to go all in with the $249.99 (Amazon) Persona 4 Revival Collector's Edition, and it includes a figure that has me reaching to click that 'add to basket' button. The $250 version of the game includes a 9.8-inch statue of 4's silver-haired protagonist, alongside his persona, Izanagi, sitting on a pile of old CRTVs, and if I may, it looks bloody fabulous. That pile of TVs included in the base looks good enough that I could jump right inside.
The Persona 4 Revival Collector's Edition is set to launch on February 18, 2027, and includes not just the P4R Protagonist & Izanagi figure, but a copy of the base game, an artbook, an alternative steelbook case, a P4-themed keycap and keychain, and alternative costumes and BGM tracks to use in-game.

My rule of thumb for Collector's Editions is usually this: unless a well-known figure brand like Banpresto or Kotobukiya is behind the statue included, I'm not going to bother.
Having a recognized name brand can give you an idea of quality even without seeing the finished product. For example, I have the AI: The Somnium Files - nirvanA Initiative Collector's Edition and felt incredibly comfortable adding it to my Switch game collection for the simple fact that the Aiba figure included is part of Good Smile Company's Pop-up Parade line. As I already owned a lot of Pop-up Parade figures, I had a basis of what kinda of sculpt and paint job to expect.
For now, the SEGA site doesn't include those details for Persona 4 Revival, bar the fact that it's "identical to the one that comes with the limited edition in other regions" and comes pre-painted, but I'm willing to take the risk today.
I have plenty of other SEGA-produced Persona figures on my shelf, and haven't been let down yet. Just keep your fingers crossed for me, and any of your Persona-loving friends who grabs it, that the Protag and Izanagi don't look like that Snake statue's distant relatives.

Weekly digests, tales from the communities you love, and more

Ever since I first held a NES controller in my hand I've been obsessed with gaming, and the hardware it runs on. I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
