Worms Galactic Tactics is a 3D roguelike twist on a classic, coming next year
Everyone's favorite weapon-wielding invertebrates are back, thanks to Worms Galactic Tactics, which was shown during the Future Games Show at Gamescom.
It's been more than 30 years since Worms first burst onto the scene. And while they've brought us plenty of versus violence over the past three decades, it's with a slightly new look that they're returning to our screens in Worms Galactic Tactics.

Worms is trying its grenade-wielding hand at the tactical roguelike genre, with battles across destructible arenas, moddable weapons, and more.
As the name suggests, this is a tactics-style strategy game. The 2D battlegrounds that the series is best known for has given way to a return to a third dimension. But this isn't simply a rehash of Worms 3D - instead, it's an arena-driven gauntlet with roguelike-style upgrades. With each new run, a new team of Worms is press-ganged into battle, balancing kills with currency as they work to earn upgrades that will help in future rounds.
While it's all a little different, this certainly still has plenty of the Worms you've known and loved all these years; sheep, bananas, rope swings, and the legendary Concrete Donkey and Holy Hand Grenade all make their appearance. And it's clear that terrain will play a big part, whether that's using a jetpack to get to the high ground, or wielding a disrespectful poke to push your final foe into the abyss to clinch a round.
There's still a lot that we don't know about Worms Galactic Tactics, but hopefully that won't be the case for too long - while there's no confirmed release date just yet, we do know that the Worms will be making their way to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam some time in 2027.
