Revealed during the Future Games Show Spring Showcase Powered by HyperX, The 7th Guest Remake is a reimagining of the puzzle game icon that first catapulted to fame in 1993. Heralded alongside Myst as one of the first games to really accelerate the push towards CD-ROM gaming that we're used to today, the FMV mystery was even praised by Bill Gates.
The 7th Guest sees six guests invited to the foreboding mansion of the mysterious Henry Stauf. As the house's owner hides in the shadow, live-action performances bring his six unfortunate visitors to life, helping reveal clues as you work your way through the house, unpicking clues that will help you solve the mystery that surrounds Stauf and his home - and the prize that the guests seek.
While the original game's FMV approach does hark directly back to the visuals of the early 90s, the remake of The 7th Guest brings a fresh look to accompany its modern platforms. As for the puzzles and the performances, however, hopefully they'll be very familiar.
While there's no release date currently in sight for The 7th Guest Remake, even after a 33-year wait it looks like it won't be hard to get your hands on it; this updated version is set to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
