Dragon’s Dogma and Devil May Cry vets show off their pop-punk action RPG, where you play as a lowly zombie trying to bring the frozen love of their life back to, well, life
"I'd give my life to get hers back – wait, I'm already dead"
A new studio formed by Dragon's Dogma and Devil May Cry veterans has turned up at the Future Games Show's Spring Showcase to offer a glimpse at their pop-punky RPG Stupid Never Dies, and it certainly looks like it'll scratch that DmC itch.
Over the course of its 2-minute playtime, you can certainly see some of that Devil May Cry DNA. Namely, as you're taking out waves of enemies, you see a score meter on the right that goes up as you string moves together.

Of course, there's plenty that sets Stupid Never Dies apart, too. Between all the fast-paced action, you can steal enemy abilities and customize your undead corpse with bizarre upgrades to make each run all the better.
As for the story pushing the action, you play as a lowly zombie named Davy who seeks to bring a frozen woman called Julia back to life. To do just that, he takes to a timed dungeon to see how he fares. The good news is that you can adventure further with each visit thanks to an increase in power, but the bad news is that the love of your life will only stay alive as long as the cold storage containing her has power – and that won't be forever. Best get to it, then.
Here's the Steam blurb: "Werewolves, Lizardmen, Skeletons— In a world where monsters are part of everyday life, a bottom-rung zombie named Davy braves a deadly dungeon to bring back Julia, the frozen human he loved. Gear up for a delightfully wild, "BLAZING FAST GROWTH" action RPG—Stupid Never Dies!"

I joined GamesRadar+ in May 2022 following stints at PCGamesN and PocketGamer.Biz, with some freelance for Kotaku UK, RockPaperShotgun, and VG24/7 thrown in for good measure. When I'm not running the news team on the games side, you'll find me putting News Editor duties to one side to play the hottest JRPG of 20 years ago or pillaging the depths of Final Fantasy 14 for a swanky new cloak – the more colourful, the better.
