Fortnite Season 2 in Chapter 6 is now here, and as always there are some big changes to get to grips with. The battle royale island has been updated with a number of fresh crime-based POIs, there's a shady new boss lurking in the shadows and poised to strike at any time, while rapping pickle Big Dill brings an additional currency to Fortnite that can be used to purchase Mythical and Legendary weapons from the Black Market. There's a lot to tell you about, so read on for the biggest changes in Fortnite Season 2 of Chapter 6.

There are fresh POIs in Fortnite Season 2 including Crime City and Lonewolf Lair

In keeping with the criminal theme for Fortnite Season 2, several new and nefarious POIs have been added to the map. Crime City is a seedy stomping ground for crooks, with suspicious venues including Hostile Hotel, Wise Guys Bookstore, and the Launder Mat, while Outlaw Oasis provides a luxury spa and resort for crims to hang out and relax after a long day of heisting. Shiny Shafts is an extensive mining operation which you can raid for Gold Bars, operated by mob don Fletcher Kane, or you can pay him a personal visit at his mansion hideout Lonewolf Lair.

A new crime boss rules over the island

In Fortnite Season 2 you'll need to watch out for mob don Fletcher Kane, who presides over criminal operations across the island and can appear while you're heisting to try and scupper your plans. If you can take Fletcher down then you'll get his Mythic Fletcher Kane’s Double Down Pistol along with the Unstoppable Medallion, which increases your sprint speed and lets you bash enemies while dashing. Previous demon boss Shogun X is still roaming the island, and defeating them gets you the Super Shield Medallion which triggers a Shield Bubble Jr whenever you use a healing item.

Gold Bars are everywhere, and there's a new currency too

As well as finding Gold Bars in the usual locations, you can also find Fortnite Gold Veins that are mined with your pickaxe to collect bars. Doing that or swimming in gold-infused water will give you the Gold Rush effect, increasing your movement speed along with the swing speed and damage output of your pickaxe. Fortnite Season 2 also introduces Dill Bits coins as a second, more valuable currency, which can only be found by breaking into vaults then searching Fortnite Dill Bit Display Cases, and those don't carry over between matches so make sure you spend them at one of the three Fortnite Black Markets that sell Mythic and Legendary items. One you upgrade your Fortnite Outlaw Keycard you'll also be able to access the backrooms for Exotic items to purchase and more.

Boons are back

Fortnite Season 2 of Chapter 6

A new set of Boons has been introduced for Fortnite Season 2, and rather than collecting them from shrines you can only get these by buying them from Black Markets or by opening Rare Chests. There are five of them in total, and this is what they all do:

  • Adrenaline Rush Boon - Gain Slap effect (short-term unlimited Energy regen) when you mantle, hurdle, and wall jump
  • Gold Ammo Boon - Gain ammo when picking up Gold Bars
  • Gold Rush Boon - Open or destroy Chests to grant Gold Rush effect
  • Greed Boon - Drop extra Gold Bars from eliminations and opening containers
  • Vulture Boon - Reveal where enemies get eliminated on the map for a short time

There are plenty of fresh weapons and items

Fortnite Season 2 of Chapter 6

As always for a fresh season, there are lots of Fortnite new weapons added to the loot pool, so you can get your hands on the Collateral Damage Assault Rifle and Falcon Eye Sniper. Thermite can be used to crack open vaults, and you can speed up the process once planted by damaging weak points on the vault – the Plasma Burst Laser can make light work of that, as will the Rocket Drill when it arrives later in Season 2. The Kneecapper is an enhanced melee weapon that also increases your sprint speed and jump height while reducing the energy cost for sprinting, and there are plenty of useful items including Med-Mist Grenade and Gold Splash. Keep an eye out for Sub-Zero's Kombat Kit, which can be used to slide into opponents on a blast of ice and unleash a barrage of punches.

The Lawless Battle Pass brings a selection of outfits

Fortnite Season 2 of Chapter 6

Purchase the Lawless Battle Pass for 1,000 V-Bucks or get it as part of the Fortnite Crew subscription, and you'll immediately receive the Cassidy Quinn outfit for your locker. Earn XP across the course of the season in all experiences to level up the Battle Pass, to unlock Big Dill, Fletcher Kane, Joss, Keisha Cross, Sub-Zero (Mortal Kombat 3), and Valentina. In March, further Fortnite quests will launch to unlock the Outlaw Midas outfit, as shown above.
