Even though the first Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer contains a few Daredevil series cameos, Charlie Cox says his Man Without Fear will not appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
"I'm sorry I haven't seen it," said Cox when asked on Jimmy Kimmel Live if he had seen the new trailer. Kimmel then asked if fans can expect to see Cox's vigilante in the new Spidey installment, to which the star replied, "No…I'm not in the movie."
The star added, "But I could be lying. But I'm not. Definitely not in the movie. I was in the last one," referring to his cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The star also said that he doesn't "think" Daredevil will show up in Avengers: Doomsday either. Could Cox be telling the truth?
With or without Cox, you can certainly feel Daredevil's presence in the first teaser due to a bunch of characters from the original Netflix show and Disney's Born Again appearing in the new footage. Although we already knew that Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle would be in the fourth movie, we get our first look at Punisher's Spidey debut in the new clip, which shows him running into Parker with his truck.
When asked if his involvement in Brand New Day is why we won't see Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, Cox replied, "He was gallivanting with Spider-Man the entire time."
In the last few clips, we can see Tom Holland's hero fighting a group of red cloak-wearing ninjas. This group is known as The Hand, who also appear in the second season of Netflix's Daredevil series, as well as The Defenders.
Judging by the new footage, there may be no room for Cox's vigilante after all. Alongside Punisher and The Hand, the clip also includes Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner (Hulk), as well as multiple villains such as Scorpion, Boomerang, and Sadie Sink's mystery character, who may or may not be Jean Grey. Plus, that's just the first trailer, so there may be more to come.
